F: B. Ebert, Tredrea (c), O'Loughlin
HF: Edwards, Pavlich, Burton
C: K. Cornes, S. Burgoyne, Cooney
HB: Enright, C. Cornes, Griffen
B: Bassett, Rutten, Johncock
1R: Lade, Goodwin (v/c), Pearce.
Int: Brogan, P. Burgoyne, Thompson, Fisher.
Coach: M. Williams.
Taken from the Advertiser
I think this is pretty spot on to what it would be if Origin was to be played right now. Interesting that the only players from non-SA teams are: Michael O'Loughlin (Sydney), Matthew Pavlich (Fremantle), Adam Cooney + Ryan Griffen (Western Bulldogs), Corey Enright (Geelong) and Sam Fisher (St Kilda).
What does everyone else think of this?
Would Ricciuto get a spot if he was fit?
Would Bryce Gibbs demand a spot?

If he were fit and displaying form as before, then I'd think Roo would replace Ebert in the pocket, but given he's not that side looks about right ... No place for Gibbs yet, give it time though.
When I first skimmed over it I thought Scotty Burns might be stiff*, but can't see anyone I'd take out for him.

Yes, great point finn. Obviously with an injury cloud over Johncock as well, he could slip in here. I can't see him bumping anyone other than Griffen out of the side.

There would have to be a better wingman than cooney... pulls out of too many contests too play in a tough State of Origin match.

Good team. It's a tragedy of football that these guys don't get the opportunity to play together for SA. Other names you could consider are Nic Fosdike, Darryl Wakelin, Scott Welsh, Byron Pickett, Alan Didak, Aaron Fiora
That assumes Pickett is fit and motivated ..... of that group I'd suggest that Didak most likely to push for a spot in that 22. And I would slip Beau Waters in as finn suggested. I am struggling with the idea of Brett Ebert in the starting 18 - with O'Loughlin, Burton, Pavlich & Tredrea I don't reckon you need another marking forward up there.
As for Roo, seeing as it's a hypothetical couldn't we assume 100% fitness to try to come up with the SA Origin dream team? He'd be one of the first picked if he was fit IMO.

also believe that you'd want a coach willing to take the reins off the side. i'm not sure that mark williams is your man here or that a closely aligned person is desirable. that said, unsure who'd be a good bet to coach - perhaps nunan to drag his li'l butt out again?

Thats an interesting one really, where would you play him? Not sure if he would play in the forward line with tredrea and Pavlich... Is he still able to hold his own in the midfield? maybe use him pinch hitting off the bench... he certainly deserves a spot in there somewhere.

I'd put some SANFL players born in this state before some they selected, I hope its not just assumed these days that AFL players are the best going around in every position.

Like who? And who would you include from the SANFL???
The only ones I could imagine leaving out are Enright, Thompson and probably Fisher?

No way would i play Treadrea atm in a state side especially as captain. And Chocco as coach??? please! The results Neil Craig is gettin out of a nowhere near full strength Crows side would guarantee him selection over Chocco.

I would not have question marks over Ebert, Micky O, Cooney, Fisher, Thompson, Brogran and Enright
Other players not mentioned and worth considering, Eagleton, Darcy (if fit), Ottens (can play forward or ruck), Scotty Burns, Slattery, Monfries, Corey Jones, Fosdike and Beau Waters
For me Beau Waters is a better choice across HB than Enright
Ottens is worth considering as a forward or ruckman, gives flexibility to the side
Fosdike, is a must in the midfield, big game player, GF's are an example
Corey Jones, is worth considering across HF
Monfries, young but very clever
Coach, does williams get the nod because of his premiership success?
Is Craig the form coach based on the last two seasons?
or do we consider someone independant and not currently aligned to an AFL club, like
BLIGHTY

Those 3 sprung to mind and Griffen as well, great young kid but really hadn't done much yet.
None of those 4 would have even got in a 2nd SA State of Origin side in past years.
