Crows top eight bound again zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Postby Rik E Boy » Sat Apr 14, 2007 9:07 pm

Well, it was very tempting to suggest that the Crows might be 'gone' after a hiccup at home against the Bombers but after watching their last two games it will be situation normal for Neil Craig's men.

Shut down middle ranked sides
Flog bottom ranked sides
Pinch the occasional game against top sides
Make the top four or top eight maybe this year
Fail to make the Grand Final as their game plan doesn't do the job in September again

All the while boring the shit out of everybody just as they have in the last three years. Crows still a good side but more tricks needed before the professor's experiment can ever be judged a success.

I thought Pierrie shut some critics up today. Rutten should be dropped to Westies to get some form, along with Welsh and Edwards!

Port defence were ordinary today, a tough defence would ensure Crows sturggle to score as freely as they did today

I think today showed that the Crows are a bit better placed than we thought. Still early days though. Something was severely wrong up forward for Port so some credit has to go to the Crows defence because Port (without Tredrea) kicked 17 and 19 goals in the first two rounds. Basset, Rutten, Mattner and co were all over them. McLeod showing some Rolls Royce form early in the season. The forward line has bounced back well since Round 1. Ian Perrie did a good job today, you wonder how he gets out of bed for these games with all the abuse he cops.

I am just relieved to get through the Showdown TBH.

I didnt think the Crows played great footy today. They made more unforced errors in their back half than ive almost ever seen by them. Port just wasnt good enough to capatalise on that.

I thought we were completely outplayed but only lost by 4 goals, and had more scoring shots. All is not lost.

Traditionally, White and Ebert turn to crap when Tredrea is in the side. White just cant impact and Ebert usually spends all his time getting in the way of Tredreas leads. Today, Ebert and Tredrea worked well in tandem and didnt get in each others way, it was the pathetic entries from the midfielders which led to the Crows defence winning pretty easy as they did. To make matters worse, the Crows forward line had space galore and it allowed them to easily run onto the ball. Just means we didnt work hard enough to get back.

I'll take 'boring' if it means a top 4 finish. If the Crows are boring then Sydney should be prescribed for insomniacs. Again, they would probably take that label home with them to put alongside the 2005 Premiership cup.

REB, you know that the Crows did more than "pinch" the "occasional" win against the top sides last year. Apart from West Coast I admit ....

Had to laugh today, I heard Stephen Williams on 5AA say that the Crows showed up the Bulldogs LW for not having a ..... wait for it ...... "Plan B"!

Sorry for the selective editing Macca, I couldn't resist

Seriously tho, I don't rank it as one of our best wins either

can't argue with any of that, if we are going to have any impact this year we are going to have to improve on that effort. Plenty of dumb decision amde and poor skill execution on our behalf.

Long way to go for Adelaide this year. Still think we'll make the eight but not confident of going past week two of the finals based on the first three weeks of the season.....

We won - they lost. And that's all that matters really! That and the fact Macca has found a time machine.

NEIL CRAIG = BEST COACH IN THE AFL

He has a very ordinary list
That list should be finishing about 10th every year
This amazing coach gets every inch of ability out of his team

As REB and MAL keep saying there is nothing left by prelim final day
This mob cant lift a notch in finals, they are already playing like that in the minor round

Mal

not to mention, he has developed a culture that does not except injuries as an excuse

No Roo, Biglands, Hentchel, Bode, Johncock, McGregor, Shirley, Massie, Maric, but the side still finds a way to win against good sides like the bullies and the power

McLeod was sensational today. His passing was awesome.
Rutten was very good on Tredrea, I and everyone who I sat with thought so too.
Welsh needs form Coorong? He kicked four goals. Not sure if you're joking or not, but interested to hear why you think he needs to find form.
If Perries to be a success he needs to have some confidence in his own ability - only then will he develop consistency.
His coach backs him 100 per cent.
Interestingly Neil Craig would not be drawn into any comments on the attendance he said "our focus now is to getting this ground full for next week's game against Sydney".
Chocko a very angry man after the game. His press conference was interrupted by someone's mobile phone. He was visibly seething and held back, with the help from a pleading look from Port officials, instead of giving the offender a bollocking. It was an interesting moment.
Port had plenty of opportunities early - just couldn't make most of them.
Lade best for them, then daylight.
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

Hondo. If your mob is top four and they can't beat the Eagles, that doesn't leave many matches left over does it.

Strut 1. Sledge away all you like but the song remains the same.
