Ticket Sales Slow for the Power v Crows game

This was mentioned on 5AA, still 9600 tickets remaining and the game is live against the gate. Callers to 5AA rang up stating that they barrack for the Crows and are staying home to watch the game because they are sick of the aggression and violence that happens to them at showdown matches. Port fans also phoned in stating that the same thing happens to them as well. Other callers mentioned discovering damage done to their cars in the car park after the games.
I have been to one showdown and sat up in the new grandstand and did not see any incidents, yet I admit that the atmosphere was not as friendly if you like as when I was last there in a majority Crows crowd to see the Crows play Essendon.
From the callers that I heard it does sound like there is a problem with people that attempt to pick fights and behave in an inappropriate manner. As I am aware there is a set fine for invading the ground, so maybe the AFL would be better off having the same fine directed at those that come to AFL games to instigate violence. If enough plain clothed coppers are dispersed through the crowd, if they are given the right resources to deal with the problem like that, then it should be reasonably easy to solve?

Fair dinkum these supporters making these excuses are soft, surely this is the premier game here in Adelaide and a MUST to attend if your a real fan of these clubs....I went to the Roos/Port game last week with my Roos scarfe on and sat in the outer and didnt cop anything (not that it would have mattered) Ive done this countless times for both Port and Crows and apart from some friendly banter, nothing.
The issue is they are brought up in this sterile environment every week, not like many of us at SANFL games packed with 11,000- fans shoulder to shoulder
God knows how some fans go when they go over to Melbourne foe a game!!

They are completely weak if they wont go because of the Port supporters! Do they not like an even amount of supporters at a game? I can't stand being at Footy Park when its 98% Crows and 2% opposition. Thats why I like going to Melbourne and watching two Victorian sides, atmosphere is great!

i would question whether these callers are supporters that are members or season ticket holders
I am convinced that a lot of these callers are closet supporters only

If you ask Rucci its the Crows fault of course that Port Power can't sell out yet another home game, even against the Crows.
Says something about the Port Power supporters loud and clear. Feral City.

Hehe, power01, seems the guy (MW) is keen on establishing himself as the most unpopular guy on the site, and is so far succeeding.

I bought tickets the other day. Bass website didn't process through the payment after I had been randomly given seats in the pocket so rang up asking for budget tickets down the northern end (so the sun doesn't get in the eyes). She apologised for the website difficulty and said she can give me tickets right behind the northern goals. I said yep, thanks, sounded good to me - until I looked a bit closer at the AAMI Stadium seating chart (after already purchasing the tickets) and see that the Power cheersquad "live" behind the goals at the northern end.
We've got Row G smack bang in the middle of the goals so I'm tipping the cheersquad will take up the majority of the 6 rows in front of us? Will I be in danger if I wear my Crows scarfe and WWT cap? I'm thinking of taking a rug, a thermos and some scotch finger biscuits and politely asking the people in front of me to stop waving their flags as they're getting in my view. Will they listen? I am hoping to get through the day alive so I can go and watch the Eagles take on Port at Woodville on Sunday. Think I will have had enough of Port by Sunday night...

Dont worry Aerie most of those Power supporters wont bother to go to Woodville Oval on Sunday. Give back as good as you can get!

Honestly, I believe some crows supporters do not go to the Power designated home showdown games, purely to send a message, that message is, Power still is unable to sell out home games, even the showdown

Because stating the bleeding obvious that Port Power can't sell out home games, even against the Crows, that makes me the most unpopular guy on site?....you must be a Port Power supporter for sure.

This would be closer to the truth than most suspect I think ... I have a mate who openly declared after round 1 that he wasn't going to the Showdown because he thought the Crows would get flogged and he couldn't handle the caning our Port mates would provide!
Using violence as a reason to stay away is purely and simply an excuse in my book ... Sure a few heated words get exchanged here and there, but if you don't want any part of it then don't buy into a verbal in the first place, it's the same at any sporting contest not just a Showdown!

Bzzt wrong, Adelaide football club is the magnificent beast that rose from the SANFL, our history starts in 1877 and includes the current hstory of the current 9 clubs. when we run on, on Saturday we represent you too PAP as we are the team for all South Australian and we don't mind sharing our 3 AFl premierships with you to my fellow SA Footballing friend.
(Hey if the Port Power supporters can distort history in line with their beliefs i.e. which version of Port Adelaide was created in 1996, why can't the rest of us change/percieve history they way we want to...

)
So there we (the word we is morst certainly intended) go PAP the Adelaide Footy Club is your footy club too, come join the feeling of being Uncompromising, Inclusive, Innovative and Proud!!!
