I managed to catch this show on 9 last night...pretty good I thought.

The interview between Wayne Carey and Dean Laidley was great viewing!

I reckon it was pretty watchable although it makes me laugh that channel 9 for once in their lives are trying to gain some footy "integrity" by actually talking about the game- they gave talking footy so much shit for so long and now are trying to tap into the same market- and give me bruce over this channel 9 dude anyday
some of the contrived arguments nearly made me puke- as did having to look at Carro. Laidely and Carey both seem about as intelligent as a house brick to me-
anyway theres my piece  STUMPS

Yes Caro certainly fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch. :vom:

As for Footy Classified, it wasn't too bad - but it did seem that some of the niggling between Caro & Duck was premeditated.

Good on Dean Laidley for going on the show too, it must have been very awkward as he obviously doesn't like Carey and after what he said about him, I see why.

Not a bad show, liked it when the coaches got to have a go at the media. Bomber Thompson looked to enjoy that part.

I watched this and On the Couch with Healy / Sheehan / Walls and give me On the Couch anyday of the week...

Thought it was just a bitchy show, where they just argued about off field crap and didn't focus on the on field footy issues, like the head high contact for the week and the good performances from Port / Essendon and the poor performances from Melbourne / Hawthorn.... it just seemed to be more about attacking people, from Cousins to Whitnall to Caro the dog and Carey...

Totally agree Blink- very scripted that bit
also i reckon the coaches question time was edited a bit- alot of times someone was laughing- they'd change camera angles and bang theyd stopped- I might be wrong though  althought the last time was back in '86 i think it was

Also, another thing that grinds my gears was the fact that Craig Hutchinson chased Ben Cousins to Los Angeles!

Give the poor bloke a chance! When Garry Lyon asked Hutchinson if he would have chased Cousins if he had made a statement prior to leaving (which allegedly is what West Coast wanted) then he wouldn't have flown to the US!! What a load of carp, he would have gone anyway.

The 3AW crew were pretty coy about that on Saturday also, very ordinary form me thinks!

Garry Lyon - "super analyst" - came up short when asked whether Adem Yze should play this week. Could not give an answer and changed the topic to Jim Stynes - weak as the proverbial.

Mark Robinson is a tool.

Find it pretty funny that C9 are trying to build this Hutchinson guy up as their star reporter, best in the land. The guys a dick! Has no football pedigree and chasin Cousins around the world is just pathetic, i saw him walkin sheepishly behind Cousins at Arizona Airport, do ya reckon Cousins wanted to deck him or what?

A couple of times there I thought a Jerry Springer episode was about to erupt.
I agree that they talked a lot about off-field stuff but I find the politics of the
game just as interesting as the playing of it.
Give them some time to iron out flaws and I know we'll have a good show.
Wayne Carey was brilliant last year doing the Foxtel sunday game and he
hasn't eased up this year, in fact he's stepped up another gear.

Had the potential there, but a lot of it seem contrived and was as previously mentioned focused on anything but the footy from Round One. Poor Dean, he was even stuggling to look at the King, but he speaks so much better than when he first got the gig, and I think that he has not done to badly for the Roos in what was never going to be an easy task with the resources both on and off the field that he has had available

Watched part of it tonight for the 1st time until channel 9 cut it 1/2 way through to show the cricket.
They discussed the Hands in the Back Rule and showed a Few obvious examples from the weekend matches that wern't paid. i.e. Mark
Mcveigh, Mathew Lloyd and Barry Hall were all paid Marks despite BLATANTLY using their hands in the Back of their opponents. Wayne Carey gave the Umpires a Huge Bake and Rightly so. They then Showed the responses of Kevin Bartlett and Jeff Geisham in relation to the Mark McVeigh MARK.
Kevin Bartlett (on the rules committee)....It was clearly a FREE Kick.
Jeff Geisham (Umpires coach).................It was clearly a MARK.

FFS. WTFs going on?????
Hopelessly inconsistent umpiring interpretations is the Major reason i have lost interest in Watching Footy anymore on telly or go to games.
it just completely destroys the Enjoyment.
To the AFL... :butthead: :butthead: :butthead: :-& :-& :vom: :vom: :butthead: :butthead:

I've enjoyed the show. I'm not convinced it is all contrived though. I love it when they give Hutchison stick and he always sides with the players to keep his hand in any stories. Caro looks like she is auditioning for Extreme Makeover - is she wearing braces? Nonetheless, she is pretty quick to give lip back so full credit there. Carey is unlike other ex-players - not afraid to say what he thinks regardless of who may take offence. Episode one had a 'beat the press' segment which didn't show up in Ep 2 - maybe because they broke for the cricket - but I thought that was a highlight and should be given more time on the show.
