He is the only reason you'd want to watch AFL.
Came up with some absolute rippers today.
On the new push in the back rule "the AFL is trying to get rid of pushers on and off the field".
When Steven Johnson and Brad Johnson collided "well at least that collision is medically sounds" (ie Johnson and Johnson).
There were another dozen like that, even left Bruce speechless at one stage.

He's much more entertaining than anything most teams in the AFL dish up. Very clever man.

Some years ago,Richmond's Darren Gaspar ran down the field and had a rare shot at goal,
result being that he hit the post.
Dennis's reply was 'Gaspar and the unfriendly post'.
Not as funny was the pepsi which came through my nose and showered the dog.
Good to see that Channel 7 hasn't muzzled him as they did pre-2002.

The thing is about his comments, you'd swear that he has them all pre planned as they're all too hillarious and clever to think up on the spot but some of them come out after once in a season/lifetime events like mentioned by Mr66. A very clever man, the jewel of the AFL.

I think he does prepare as some are very topical(todays 'pusher' comment),
but the Gaspar one I mentioned was sheer brilliance.
No way known could he have prepared for that.

My favourite was "Barlow to Bateman, the Hawks are attacking alphabetically"

DC is a very top bloke. Appeared at a GFC corporate luncheon last year, and i'm lead to believe that to save the GFC accomodation costs for the night he bunked at one of our famous retired players homes, and also did not charge an appearance fee.

He also had the pleasure of sitting next to me one night flying from Adelaide to Perth, after a Sunday game, and was very happy to chat about footy/commentating/Western Bulldogs etc etc.

What you see on TV is what I got, funny funny man.

My favourite tv commentator by 500%.
He's still my hero even if he is a little bit crap.

Reakon three years away has served Bruce well.

He's back to his best.

Gone is the over-calling, stats overload and fake excitement.

Then again, it's only round one...

Does Dennis have to sit there with SUCH a big smile next to Timmy? Watson is dribbling away and Dennis is there with a smile an 18 year old virgin couldnt give you.

Unfortunately after Dennis and Bruce there's a real lack of quality. Watson is a hack and always has been, Olarenshaw deserves more time but struggling so far.

One of his best was a Collingwood v Carlton game in 2002, Heath Scotland took a mark running back with the flight of the ball. "Waite, High Kick to half forward.........arrrggghhhh Scotland the brave."
