LOL - Deserves it for being a dumbarse!!!...if he had set up the account in his wifes name and funded it from her credit card like hundreds of other footballers it wouldnt have been an issue!!!

Forty Grand?...
Piss in the Ocean for Goodwin anyway!
I'm just glad that young fella from the Swans only got a suspended fine
for punting just 10 bills!
Media Beat-Up I say!
...Hanse Kronje or Bruce Grobbelaar this ain't!
(Ironically both South African!)

Totally agree Dutchy, his should have been punished more but not for actually betting but for being so stupid to bet in his name. WTF was he thinking?

All the AFL have done is send a message to footballers to cancel their Betfair memberships and put them in the partners or family members name.

Why oh why suspend the other $20k.Does the AFL think he would be stupid enough to do it again?

What I dont understand is the AFL now saying the next player to get caught will get suspended...why is the next one different to Goodwin and Ward??? nothing has changed....

Also what if Goodwin bet $16k, won $40k pays $20k fine, still $20k in front!!!!

What makes no sense is that Goodwin has 4 bets- none on his games gets 40 g. Ward has 18 bets- 2 of which are on games that he is playing in and he only gets 10g??? Please explain that logic!!

What the AFL is saying is there are a lot of dumbass footballers out there who, despite being told over and over again not to gamble on footy, go out and do it anyway. I think they also realise they caught 4 players whereas there were many others out there who were doing it.

They've made a final statement now that even stupid footballers can understand. Get caught gambling and you're out. I sit back now and look forward to seeing how long it takes for the next player to be caught. It won't take long.

I understand that but the rules havent changed at all...it was in their contracts before and it is now so should be treated equally...

Look at the tribunal a punch in the head in Round 2 will get the same penalty in ROund 18...why is this so different if the rules and contracts havent changed int he last fortnight?

CANT AGREE MORE D+O

In the late 70s I got a job with the Commenwealth Bank.
One of the first things the Bank drilled into me was this saying :
" There is no degrees of honesty."
The moral of that cliche was if you pinch $2 or $20K you will be sacked.

If GOODWIN gets $40k all of them should.

GOODWIN bets other teams gets $40
WARD bets on his teams games should have gotten $200,000,000,000,000k

YES...and he probably will! And the others probably will too, but they will have learned to hide it better.
