The football public miss out on seeing GOODWIN for 4 games for having a bet.
Man was being an Aussie doing the Aussie thing by havin' a punt.

Good penalty if true. Now take note players; don't bet on the footy!

They just played the sports news update on SEN and no mention of it.

I knew they couldn't gamble and I have never been an AFL player. Pleading ignorant is no excuse, probably a little lucky they didn't up the number of games.

I think he got off lightly..!

Could have been a life ban......

Maybe should have...?

The more you think about it, the more serious it becomes......

4 games is a joke really......

20 G's is a joke......

Didn't you see Tread' rs place in the Sunday Mail......?

Nothing to do with that great man, but the penalty didn't fit the crime on this occasion.....?

I am a Crows Fan.....

He doesn't play for a Victorian club that's why.

Would a suspension for such an offence rule him out for the Brownlow, a "best and fairest" award?

It's incorrect.

You are aware of this, aren't you?

Not commenting on the veracity of the report but offer this-
Pete Rose, a famous American Baseballer was banned for life for betting on Baseball games.

If Goodwin was to get 4 games & -$20K, he should celebrate, or spend a day in his shoes...

OK I got sucked in.

I now recall that the AFL appointed investigators have 14 days to conduct their investigation and then provide a report. I reckon a penalty, if handed down, will be a week or two away yet.

Mind you, match penalties would be worse for a perpetrator than a fine. I mean, the AFL fined the bombers for playing with yellow armbands without their agreement for crying out loud! (The armbands were to promote cancer awareness in the wake of Ramanauskas' second diagnosis from memory).

Yeah I may been premature about my claim, but I fear it will be much worse, heard from a source who is a lawyer representing that 12 games may be likely...

Well Channel 7 news (Sandy Roberts) reported over here tonight that both Ward and Goodwin are potentially facing 12 week bans when the AFL conclude their investigation this week....

I have also heard that rumour, the AFL are keen to send a message and make and example.

Is this the same AFL who allow players like Kerr to walk away with a slap on the wrist and a bag of lollies?
