Interesting that on afl.com.au, this is the best 22 on offer for the Crows in 2007
2007 BEST 22
B: Johncock, Rutten, Bassett
HB: McLeod, McGregor, Mattner
C: Burton, Goodwin, Reilly
HF: Thompson, Perrie, Bode
F: Welsh, Bock, Ricciuto
FOLL: Hudson, Shirley, Edwards
I/C: Doughty, van Berlo, Knights, Meesen
EMG: Stevens, Porplyzia, Douglas
I would of thought Maric for Meesen and this is fairly accurate. Thoughts?

In many ways I hope they are right as Douglas will play more games for us, however I think he is in their best 22 and we wont see much of him...
Douglas for Knights

Crows should play Meeson. Maric should spend the year with the Magpies

To be a truly 'gun side' you need a forward capable of kicking 70+ goals, which one of these is it?

Welsh - if he can stay on the park. Also if Riccutio plays up forward permanently he is more than capable.

I would love to see McLeod move forward. He would be awesome there! But who can replace his run and drive off the back flank? We need that Johncock-McLeod tag team firing all yer for us to do well.

Where was West Coast's 70 goal forward last year?

If im not mistaken lynch was pretty bloody close to 70 last year Lizbeff.
I agree the crows will need Welsh to have a big year up forward. If he is injury free, welsh is a huge chance of 70+ because he is a dead eyed richard from inside 50

He had 65 not 70. hahaha. With that much feed from their midfield in his area, i wouldve kicked 65 goals!

Where was West Coast's 70 goal forward last year?
I know Lynch was close, not quite 70,but close. Now I also said "capable" of kicking 70+.
Thompson-NO
Perrie-NO
Bode-NO
Welsh-Maybe?
Bock-LMAO,NO
Roo-Maybe?
McGregor-Might not play at all?
Rutten-One of the best FB's around.
Johncock-Out of the Hendon and into the middle.
No real ruck men to get the ball down to the midfield ( top quality mid field I might add,a little old or a little young {Goodwin-Van Berlo}),some solid lines with Bassett,McLeod (who will have to play back) Rutten,Johncock. But not Enough goalwill be on the board for them in my mind. The Goodwins',Edwards',Roo and Mcleod's will need to contibute alot,ALOT,as far as goal scoring power goes.I also might add I expect all of them to spend considerable time up there as times during the year.Hey,you put your best players where you need them most.

Pretty fair assessment their man-who-wont-admit-to-drinking-52-cans, don't agree with some of it (supporters of clubs have rose coloured glasses) but basically not far off the mark. A lot needs to go right for Adelaide if they are to make the last Saturday in September......

the side selected basically mirrors last years stucture, we all know last year they fell short, so I would be surprised if the crows did not change the formula
I am hoping, Macca plays on the wing and across HF, with some time on the ball, hopefully Johncock is also in Craigy's midfield rotation plan
This would leave two running type defenders positions vacant, hopefully the club may look to blood either douglas, hinge, pfeiffer or McIntyre down back, also I think Kenny will return to CHB.
On maric or meesen, NAB cup form may be the decider on who gets first bite at the cherry
On the forward line, it's probably close to the mark, Gill is behind the 8 ball and struggling with injuries at the moment, Sellar and Tippett need to build form through the SANFL, Meesen or Maric may be an option to push forward as a third tall
Proplyzia and Douglas would be unlucky to miss, but this is also a Huge year for Knights, the kid is a ball magnet, but needs to get over the niggles and be cleaner by foot with his disposal
Other to put immediate pressure on selection, Vince, Archard and Campbell in a tagger role

Out in week 1 or 2 of the finals. Plenty of tryers, plenty of ballwinners, but not enough potency against the big guns.

This would be my personal ideal line up.
Id keep Bock across half back personally. McLeod with freedom across half forward. Stevens in form and fit is always in my first team. Gotta give Gill a decent chance, he could be brilliant or a dud. Reilly, Edwards, Goodwin, Van Berlo rotating. Mattner on a wing not HBF.

Thats 5 talls in the backline lizbeff. Traditionally half back flankers are rebounding type players, but you have none across half back. With that side they could struggle for rebound from half back, i think if Johncock was to play in defence it would be across half back line, he could be wasted in a pocket.
