Mal Michael

Considering all that went on in the off season involving Mal Michael moving to Brisbane in what was nothing but a dirty underhanded transaction, how well do you think he will perform for the Bombers this year?

If I were Leigh Matthews, I would be considering having the same chat with a chosen player that John Cahill is alleged to have had with Dave Granger to meet a similar end.

From Brisbane, I dont think even Brown would be up to it. Ever stood along side Mal? then compare the body definition? Doubt too many in the AFL would be up to the task.

Granger was told to take on a skinny guy half his weight. Even Granger would not be up to what you suggest. (probably stupid enough to try it though, along with the likes of Monkhouse and that Collingwood guy who went to Fitzroy. Met Monky at a social gathering couple of years ago, What a giant.

Giant hey Coorong,is that physical,or mental?

For entertainment, lets say Lethal puts this on some one,"Got something for you to do today son" says Lethal.

What you do,have a crack at Mal,or wait for Lethal to get hold of you? Rock and hard place indeed.

Mal Michael's built like a brick shithouse!
The only Brisbane player possibly capable at poleaxing the big fella is Johnathon Brown...
& with his track record in front of the tribunal, I don't think they'll risk it!

However 'Lethal' Leigh back in his playing days would've had a crack!

Judging from the weekend papers, Michael looks even more imposing in an Essendon guernsey. He will be a fine acquisition for the Bombers.

Alistair Lynch should announce a comeback, appeal against the severity of his 10-game suspension from the 2004 Grand Final, hopefully get a couple of games off and then go straight to full forward for the round-8 clash against the Bombers. That'd bring a few fireworks!!

:? He already has missed 05-06 so I think he has served his 10 matches somehow.
FWIW the new rules will sort MM out anyway with the no holding rule, same said for Lynchy if he was playing.

I am watching a replay of the Carlton v Bombers NAB match

One early observation, during Mal Michael's career, he has consistently and has always preferred to play from behind and push opponents under the footy

During the first half of the NAB game he gave away three free kicks and conceded three goals to Fav because of this tighter ruling of the hands in the back rule

This will force Mal Michael to totally change his game, which will be difficult so late in his career, if he doesn't he will keep coughing up goals

Michael may play a hand full of decent games, but his best is well and truly behind him. No great long term loss to the Lions, they are better off without him.

I went right off Michael after his bull headed approach to the media about leaving the Lions. He said, "I GAVE them 6 years, what more do they want?". For a start Mal, you didn't GIVE them anything, they paid handsomely for your services, secondly they GAVE you 3 premiership flags in those 6 years (3 more than you would have won at Collingwood, and 3 more than you will win at Essendon), and thirdly, they wanted a chance to extend your contract or trade with another club. You did not allow this to happen due to underhanded tactics. People like Michael really give me the shits.

The Michael's move has been discussed in length, the purpose of my last post was to highlight given the way he plays he may struggle with the tighter hands in the back ruling

From what I've been led to believe is that pissweak rule's now a permanent fixture!
Not just being given a trial run for the NAB Cup!
Gawd help us all!!

what i seen over the w/end the ruling works well,

there is finally clear definition, players are not allowed to use the hands in the middle of the back, so what we are now seeing is more body on body contests instead of the easy hands in the middle of the back pushing your opponent under the ball

so it is designed to remove the piss weak hands in the back contest and force players to use there body in a marking cntest

I don't mean to be rude, but I'm growing awfully tired of people on this forum telling me what I can or cannot say. If I want to pass comment on Mal Michael, I will.

I don't want to be Rude, but mate you have jumped the gun a bit

I don't give a toss what you say, all I was doing was focusing my comments on the new ruling and how it may affect Mal's style of game
