Will Essendon make the 8 this year?

I think Essendon could start to show a glimmer of hope this year of being a side that sees some improvement. It will be interesting to see how Sheedy copes with this year and the style of coaching that he goes with.

It is unusual not seeing Essendon having a crack at the Eight, yet I think that they will definatley rebound this year, they have good players on their list and have had two good years to blood rookies to take the next step, so it seems reasonable that they should get a better result this year.

Yet will they make the Eight?

Probably not, yet I wouldent be surprised if they did get themselves into a situation where towards the end of the year only a few wins could be required to qualify! Geelong and Essendon could end up in that situation together.

Lloyd will straighten them up and give them more options in attack, however with a weak mid-field by AFL standards their ability to get the ball down there will be compromised.....

in short NO

for what it's worth, I'm tipping the Bombers to miss the 8 and the final year of Sheeds at the club

No they wont, but i think they'll make it before Carlton do (not that that would be hard). I also think they drafted a bit better than Carlton did in last years' draft as well. They've got a few talented youngsters, but i wouldn't expect the Bombers to challenge for a final 8 spot until about 2010.

hell no they won't

In no particular order

West Coast
Sydney
Adelaide
Freo
Melbourne
St Kilda
Western Bulldogs

And either Collingwood or Brisbane rounding out the eight

They will improve, but won't be near the 8 and the Mal Michale pickup will not mean anything in hindsight.

In one word from a realistic Bombers supporter, No!

Punky, I don't think you will be dissapointed then, but there would be a lot more hoping your beloved 'pies don't make the 8 than the Bombers.

Brisbane are screwed my friend. They won't get near it this year.

I doubt Essendon will make it. Could see a ALL WA GF this year and the Qld teams will take the bottom two spots, doing no good promoting footy in SE Qld. Tassie Hawks to just sneak into the 8 ahead of Port Power.

West Coast
Fremantle
St Kilda
Adelaide
Sydney
Western Bulldogs
Melbourne
Hawthorn
-------------------
Port Power
Essendon
Richmond
Collingwood
Geelong
Carlton
Kangaroos
Brisbane

Geelong bottom four! That would be some achievement to outdo ourselves in carpiness from last season. We'll finish ahead of Hawthorn, Brisbane, Carlton, Kangaroos, Essendon, Port and Richmond at the very least. And Crows for top four with a dodgy forward and ruck set up?? Tell im he's dreaming!
