Has anyone read James Hird's biography? I'd be curious to know what others thought of it cause I thought it was rubbish.

Put it this way....he does not mind telling the reader how good he is and what a perfect life he has had. :vom:

Perfect life my arse!
He's had more reconstructions than Steve Austin! (Six Million Dollar Man not 'Stone Cold')
Third generation Bomber, tougher than a two dollar steak!
Anyone who accuses him of being a pretty boy or whatever... Pull your heads in!
Played the legendary 1993 Preliminary Final versus the Crows followed by the Premiership
where the Mighty Dons destroyed Carlton with broken ribs no less!
That clash with Mark McVeigh's knee @ Subiaco versus Fremantle one of the most sickening collisions ever!
Facial surgery left the bloke is nothing short of Frankenstein!
His body's got more metal in it than Ozzfest!
Showing my Essendon bias?... Shit yeah!
The fella's hard as nails!

Im no Essendon fan, but the boys a gun. He wouldve made a good Crow. His last quarter effort against West Coast the week after the whole baggin that umpire fiasco was legendary stuff. One of my all time fave AFL football memorys.
And if MW doesnt like it, it must be good. Ill go buy it.

As was Sean Wellman, Chris Ladhams also had a stint with the Bombers.

You gotta sympathise with Chris Ladhams...
He was drafted to Essendon for their Premiership winning 2000 Season.
Being the outstanding year the Mighty Dons dropped only one game against Footscray.
Relatively injury free all year, the Bombers didn't have a place for Ladhams in their senior side
which left him playing for the 2's all year.
Subsequently the Gaza boy returned home & got a gig with the Crows!
As for Sean Wellman... The gutsy All Australian centre half back, truly an asset at Windy Hill!
Who's career really took off after leaving the Crows as a result of that Darren Jarman (Yet another Rooster)
AFC/Hawthorn trade deal I believe!

Why wouldn't an Essendon fan love Hird? He is as courageous as you can be and has paid the penalty for it on several occasions throughout his career. I think he is currently being rated higher than he should be over the last few years but at his peak he would have been welcome at Geelong I can tell you that...real leaders a bit thin on the ground at the Cattery. In fact, I'd rather have Hird than Buckley, Voss or Ruccuito...but I'd have Robert Harvey above all of them.

It does sound like a shit read though....

regards,

REB
