AFL star Kerr on assault charge

WEST Coast AFL player Daniel Kerr and his father have been charged with assault during a party in Perth.

Police confirmed they had charged a 23-year-old Kardinya man with two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm at a party in the southern suburb of Attadale last Saturday.

They also confirmed they had charged a 46-year-old Kardinya man with two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and two counts of assault.

Officers did not identify the two men but the Seven Network reported tonight the two were Daniel Kerr and his father Roger.

Detective Senior Constable Nedbib Uzonovic told Seven the victims, believed to be three teenagers, suffered injuries including a broken nose and a chipped tooth.

Kerr, 23, has developed into one of the finest players in the AFL in recent seasons.

He finished second in the Brownlow Medal count in 2005 and third last year despite being ineligible for the award due to suspension.

The midfielder was one of West Coast's best players in last year's premiership victory over Sydney.

Kerr is no stranger to bad publicity having been involved in a brawl with fellow Eagles star Ben Cousins in 2002 in which Cousins broke his arm during post-season celebrations.

Kerr was recently named as one of the 50 hottest sports people by an Australian sports magazine.

He is expected to appear in a Perth magistrates court next Tuesday.

Frankly, I'm worried. They pulled this shit this time last year and went on to win the premiership. The problem with this is that online West Coast supporters could give out lessons in arrogance to Port Adelaide supporters, something I would have thought was impossible.

Port supporters aren't arrogant mate, just confident and proud.

Seems to be a bit of a feeling that you can get away with a fair bit there at the Eagles. The well documented exploits of Cousins and Gardiner, and the,IMO,less than dramatic penalties placed upon both are beginning to make the reigning premier look like they have the soft touch.Im sure woosha would inflict some discipline of his own, given the chance.

Old Roger "Wang" Kerr,a Magpie premiership player.

John Worsfold might be threatened with cement shoes in the Swan River
if he gets too heavy handed disciplining the troops...
Some of the Weagles charges may very well be 'Made Men' 8)
(re. Rumours of connections with the Perth Underworld  )

It is alleged that the guy Kerr and his Father assaulted inappropriately touched up Kerr’s younger sister, so the Big Bro and Dad gave this bloke a hiding

If this is true, and I emphasise this is what has been alleged, if it was my sister, I would of given the bloke a hiding too

Flag singular Mr Boon, and although the team is called Port Adelaide, you and I both know your mob has sold it's soul to become the second SA composite side. Hey, what do you know, the Redlegs have won an AFL flag!
