How many times does the guy have to fall over before they work it out? Having said that Steven King is in a similar boat.

Hard to argue with you there REB.
He may "only" be 29 but he's been on an AFL list for 12 seasons now and he's always played a pretty physical type of game.

it's hard to see him making it back, by that I mean playing regular footy at a high standard
both Aaron Hamill's and Michael Voss played a crash bang style of footy and their bodies have paid the price

I bet Carlton would have liked to have had him in their team for the past few seasons! Might have stemmed the tide somewhat.

tough season in front of the Saints, for me too many players coming back from injury and too slow thru the middle, not to mention salary cap constraints have prevented the club from submitting a full list for 2007
it will take a huge effort from Ross Lyon to get this club in to the finals

Disagree. Top six for the Saints for mine.

Gardiner is now ruled out for the NAB and has missed much of the pre-season, no pre-season for Hamill either, St Nick will be on a modified program for 4 weeks as he has done a hammy, X Clarke may miss the first half of pre-season with a back injury, not to mention Watts, Haynes and Macguire are all coming back from long term injuries
not the ideal pre-season for some key players
I would have Eagles, Swans, Freo, Adel, Melb, Bulldogs in my top 6, then the rest except maybe 2 or 3 clubs battling for the final couple of spots in the 8

Your post makes sense Syd but histroy tells us that rarely do the top teams line up again that way the following season. For mine, Melbourne are massively overrated.

I take on board your point, I think Melb with it's best side on the park is solid, then I think, which of the teams that finished out of the 8 have the capabilty to finish high in the top 8
There is probably a case for Geelong, maybe the Hawks and Bombers if they can keep there best side on the park, I am not convinced how much improvement is in the Pies, I worry about their midfield
Then their is the rest, Kanga's, Power, Lions, Richmond and Carlton will probably field young sides so these teams are bit of a lottery depending on injuries and how fast these teams develop
so given that Melb still has a fair bit of experience in their list, I expect them to be around the mark, but there defence is a concern.

I'm a bit surprised about your call on the Bombers syd. I don't get why people are rating them after their efforts last season. Sure Lloyd will be back but Essendon are rank plain and simple. I'm convinced people rate Essendon pre-season out of sheer habit. Hawthorn are a promising side but continue to fail against good sides which is why they don't and won't make the eight.

The bombers are unpredictable, if they have a full a good run with injuries, forward line of Llyod, Lucas, Hird, Johns lokks dangerous, the club is obviously hoping Mal Michael will give them stability down back and a better structure, allowing Fletcher to play CHB and McPhee to pick up the third tall.
As we know footy these days is played in the midfield, the bombers midfield is below par and slow, this is the area I believe they will really struggle.
Last season, the Lions, Power, Bulldogs, Tigers to name a few all had more injuries and younger lists then Essendon but these clubs won more games then the bombers, but Shheds fooled the footy world again, for me the Bombers game plan is too Llyod focus so they struggle when he is not on the park, not to mention sides are easier to defend if they are too one dimensional.
Essendon could finish anywhere between 6 - 14, hopefully closer to 14
