i think you will find that around the time of the 2nd semi final for the reserves in which KENT KINGSLEY was participating in he told the club that he wanted to leave, so he jumped before he was cut, but he was always going.

heard him on the radio last week with dumb and dumber and he didnt think his form was all that bad and dumb and dumber felt sorry for him about the way he was treated by the club.

he had his chances to make a mark on the competition but didnt do it all that consistently

well when you add 3 useless lads, one of which is obese, they would be unlikely to get a game anyway, but if they did they would be down with the BLUES battling for the spoon.

The question has to be asked. Is Kent Kingsley useless or was he forced to play in a position and a role that didn't suit him? Does he make too much cash to really GAF?

Firstly, Kent's role at Geelong. Since Gary Ablett Snr retired, the Geelong forward line has become an absolute basketcase with many footballers dying and withering on the line as ball after ball gets kicked over their heads by a midfield that is still quite inexperienced and lacking a bit of pace. Lace out passes to a Geelong forward are a rare commodity now that Hocking, Toby, Couch and now Riccardi have pulled up stumps. Some of the blokes who have been burnt include David Mensch, Jason Mooney, Mitchell White, David Haines, Ronnie Burns, Derek Hall, Matthew McCarthy and now you can add Kingsley's name to that bloody lengthy list. Kingsley was the best of those forwards with perhaps the exception of Burns and Mensch (White of course was better but not at Geelong). Kingsley kicked over 50 goals in a season on three occasions in a period when Geelong were not reaching the standards of the previous decade. Repeatedly I stood up for Kingsley because in my view, he was being forced to play a Barry Hall type role when clearly he is not that type of player. Anyone who can average close to three goals a game in a dysfunctional forward line does have talent.

Which brings me to the second part of the equation, the desire. Kingsley is a successfull businessman who doesn't really need to play football. The only thing that would keep him in the league is a burning desire to play in a premiership side. Is Kent just a talented club man at the next level down or can he be that professional athlete that he was, up until this season from hell? I believe that Kent always had the desire but that desire leaked away rapidly when the goals dried up and he found himself in the Magoos.

Plenty of people are laughing at the thought of Richmond picking up Kingsley just because Kingsley has had a bad season at Geelong. In case you haven't noticed, he had a few mates and Kingsley is one of the scapegoats..the supporters would tear down Cat Park if Kingsley was retained LOL. But at Richmond they have a Matthew Richardson and he must command the best defender. At Richmond they also have Nathan Brown so there goes number two. Your big defender on Richo and your quickest on Brown so that leaves your second best tall or a younger defender perhaps on Kingsley the number three forward. I also thought that Essendon might be interested in Kent for similar reasons. Kingsley as a number three forward would be a dangerous proposition indeed, Kingsley as the number one forward just doesn't work as it has been proven at Catland. I believe Kent still has something to offer at the right club.

IF he can be ar5ed!

Forgive my ignorance REB - This is changing the topic slightly, but I have noticed often that you and others have mentioned Kingsley in various threads as being a successful business man and having several off-field business interests and income. I am just curious as to what these are???

IIRC two of his "external" income streams are real estate and the rag trade....
