not entirely correct at this stage, but it is likely he will pull the pin. a combination of wanting to be with teresa palmer and trying his luck at the throw and catch game. an official statement will come out within the next 10 days.

If he's not going to play for Power, then he can go and play in the NFL in America, I prefer that he doesn't play for the Dogs.

Very sad for the Power, a real crowd favourite from games I have been too. Good luck to him in America.

Yeah, Dewy has been a fan favourite for many many years, because of his massive kicking, but he got lazy this year. Didn't seem as committed as he did in 2005. He'll still be missed.

Just this year??

Dewy is massively talented, but I reakon he's been lazy by the required standards for close to half of his AFL career

Absolutely no guarantee he will make it in the NFL.

NFL would suit his style of game, getting 4 or 5 kicks per game.

Absolute total agreement "Constance"

Good luck in the future Stewie, whatever path it takes...

He will do better over there. With his girl, and a new exciting game for him to have a few good seasons with and then fall of the radar (a la his career with Port). Also reckon the NFL are less strict about body fat levels, so should be more successful

I am so sick and tired of all these guys quitting to go play in the NFL.

It's a shame, because he's one of those few players that in full flight, most people love to watch, regardless of who you follow ... I've always felt he could have had a similar career to Darren Jarman, but it would appear the difference is that one was required to put in the required amount of work to get the best out of himself regularly, and the other isn't, which is sad.

Big call constance - I don't think Dew is in the same class as Jarman, skill wise. And don't you even think about implying Jarman worked hard! IMO, he got a better run with coaches because of his freakish skills (and rightly so - who wouldn't have him in their team?)

Im surprised that he has decide to announce it now. All the kicking and punting camps are over and all NFL and NFL Europe rosters are finalised. both NFL and NCAA comps are halfway through there regular seasons. So where is he going to familiarise himself with the game? He hasnt turned out in the local comp as had been rumoured.

Agreed that it's a big call mate, but if you think about it, whilst being a player of noted ability, it was Jarmans' later years (and deeds throughout them) that got him through to the champion category ... Prior to that the general consensus of opinion was that he was a highly skillful player who went missing a bit too often with question marks over his head in finals.

Dew is not too far off that and you could debate their comparative skill levels (I agree with you btw, but it's not a HUGE gap), but for whatever reason (application, determination, interest etc) he looks unlikely to give himself the chance at finishing in a blaze of glory in the next years unlike Jars.

Can't argue with much of that. Well said.
