Magpie faces drink charge

October 06, 2006 COLLINGWOOD'S Alan Didak has been charged with being drunk and disorderly following an altercation with a taxi driver early today.

The club has confirmed that Didak, 23, was arrested in Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn, during a dispute with a taxi driver outside a nightclub about 1am (AEST).

"The arrest arose as a result of an argument with a taxi driver. Didak wished to be taken home and the driver insisted on being paid $25 for what was a $10 trip," said club spokeswoman Nicki Malady.

"A passing police vehicle intervened and removed Didak from the scene, taking him to the City Watchhouse.

"Didak was released approximately 20 minutes later."

She said the club will not comment further until the police investigation is finalised.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman would not confirm whether Didak had been arrested, but confirmed a 23-year-old Kew man had been arrested and was taken to the Melbourne Custody Centre "to sober up".

She said the man was charged with being drunk and disorderly and released on bail.

I just find it interesting, Malthouse cracked the shite on more then one occassion when questioned about Chris and his troubled night out, he lashed out at all media reports, then puts him up for trade for that very reason

they are the facts

Tarrant has asked to be traded !!!

FYI Syd from a report today - the last paragraph does not back up your fact statement at all !!!

In a shock development, the Eagles and the Dockers are poised to become locked in a bidding war to attract Tarrant from the Magpies.

Tarrant's manager, Paul Connors, will hold formal talks with both clubs in Perth in the coming days, and Tarrant and his agent are known to favour the move.

Connors manages players at both clubs, including Eagles captain Chris Judd.

Tarrant, who is contracted with the Magpies for another year, has told Collingwood that he wants to leave the club - and he wants to play for a club that has premiership potential in the next few years.

asked to be traded

he knows that he is not wanted by the club, no other option

Paul Roo's is also keen on Tarrant which seems a little strange, with Hall, MickyO, O'Keefe and Grundy and Vogels in the wings, you would of thought a key defender and classy midfielder would of been top of the swans shopping list

Basically you have to take just about everything you hear in the lead-up to trade week as a load of BS.

The only time I ever believe anything is when the dotted line has been signed.

FWIW though, I think Taz may end up at the Bulldogs. I think they have gone cold on Aker, realised that what they need is a tall, marking forward to supplement Brad Johnson in the forward line - he might just be the missing piece of their puzzle.

agree, for example, earlier in the week, eagles came out and said Chris does not meet the eagles recruiting criteria, but today we read the Eagles and Freo are in a bidding war for his services

On freo, in recent years they have attracted so many players back THE LIST INCLUDES

Bell, Black, Farmer, Headland, Schofield, Cook, Carr

Now we hear names like Tarrant and Moody, given the quality young blokes coming through, they must be starting to feel som salary cap pressure

I dont know why Brissy wont fork out to try and get some big recruits. If Bradshaw goes, surely they will have some spare cash after Akker, Voss, Brdshaw etc go. I presume Voss was a veteran, but they need to re-establish themselves!!!

Eddie this morning came out and said Didak was not drunk

But Police have released the following statement

Police said a 23-year-old Kew man was detained in Glenferrie Road in Hawthorn in Melbourne's inner-east at 1.30am.

A police spokeswoman told theagecom.au that, after being picked up by police, the man "was taken to Melbourne Custody Centre to sober up".

hmmm who is telling the truth
