Tin foil hat time.

Collingwood were found to have broken the salary cap. Due to the pies not actually winning anything and the AFL not wanting to deal with a salary cap scandal tell Collingwood to have a total cleanout immediately. AFL then sweep it under the rug and its a win/win for both the AFL/Collingwood.

No other possible explanation makes sense for Collingwoods trade week.

It doesnt get mentioned for obvious reasons but I guarantee the Beams issue has the club hamstrung and has caused some of this fallout. They have 2 more years of him on big $'s and they haven't been able to negotiate an exit for him. No doubt due to their tight cap they have tried to negotiate a low payout but Beams ain't budging.

If he's not fulfilling his end of the contract (like playing) then I wouldve thought it would get torn up.

I highly doubt that with what we know about mental health these days.

Would it be more of a workcover type thing where the club isn't actually paying him off their books but his salary is still factored into their salary cap until his contract expires? I have no idea though.

He had a role in comms to the players, but Id be confident he is not the root cause for all of their issues.

Not sure about that. I'd imagine list management, which would include Buckley, would have identified a list of players whose salary needed to be reviewed / cut and he'd have been asked which ones he'd like to keep and which ones he could let go.

He obviously wanted to keep De Goey ahead of Treloar and Stephenson, if not De Goey wouldn't be about to sign a new big deal.

He knew what was going on, I get the feeling he expected either or both Moore and DeGoey to be gone.

He also said Treloar was away this may happen as they tried to move him on 12 months ago.

Listened to the Bucks interview tonight, thought he was pretty good, took the lead to have the tough conversations with the boys involved. Which of course he should, however Im sure not all coaches would. Had to separate personal relationships from business which is always tough.

He is a good coach IMO.
