I must be old School but what the hell are Melbourne players wearing for football socks. They look like dress socks.

I hate seeing players playing with their socks down.

The sock is part of your club colours and it looks disrespectful not to play with your socks up and show your colours.

We are the only sport in the world where we allow our players to play socks down and it is a horrible look.

Pull them up and show respect to your club.

We went thru the glove phase and no one wears them now and they should never have been allowed.

Same with the socks. It is a monkey see monkey do thing. some one started it and others follow it is a horrible look.
It is something that has slowly creeped into our game over the last few years.

Pull them up and look like footballers.

Personally always hated my socks being pulled up as it effected the blood flow through my calves and my legs would feel shithouse by half time.

With today's design of sock it would do the opposite and help with blood flow.

Not the only sport in the world. Just as many rugby union/league players wear their socks down as those that wear them up.

Socks down all day every day.

Opposite. Always pulled them up, it was the earliest form of compression around the calves on a cold winters day. Footy socks were years in front of “skins”....

and as I tell the kids at my club, if it's wet, you wipe the front/top of your boot on your opposite calf to dry it off and get some purchase on the footy.

Don't get me started on Geelong wearing white shorts at home.

Just on what players wear how the hell have players been able to get away with metal studs in their boots?
Even when I was playing 20 years ago it was a well known fact you couldn't have metal studs in your boots, never even considered it. I was surprised at the time that rugby players could wear them.

Obviously the days of umpires going and checking the players spriggs on their boots no longer happens. Remember having to line up on the oval before the game started and the umpires would go along and run their hands across the spriggs to ensure they complied
