So Kane's little obsession at the moment is saying repeatedly that Gibbs will get $600,000 next year for doing nothing. That would be a normal payout if he were playing surely...when they retire with one year it's normally negotiated buyout right?

Would expect at least half of it though but not the full $600k.

Depends what his final year was worth, if it was back ended ( which it might have been ) then it may have been $800-850 and he's happy with $600k.

Yeah, Gibbs wouldn't get the full amount. Kane is a shocker.

I think so far the payouts to former players has gone in our favour with Betts and Jenkins. Not saying it was a f..k up to have to pay them out in the first place though...

Its a negotiation as he has every right to stay on the list in 2021 and get his full contract, but both parties realise that isn't good for either party so they negotiate a compromise, if he was due to get say $700k, then $400k might be around the mark. In the situation the Crows are in thats not going to hurt their Salary Cap, but importantly it opens up a spot on the list for a kid.

The biggest advantage with Pick 1 comes from the pre season draft. Im sure it wont matter if they have 1 or 2 in the 1st draft, they will get who they want. But with Pick 1 in pre seson draft their hand is significantly stronger at the trading table. They will be able to negotiate unders for the likes of Jack Graham with the threat of picking him up in the pre season draft for nothing

He absolutely loves Norwood (Considers it his home club) and the covid scenario has maybe made Adelaide a more appealing home environment over the next 18 months. I’d say it’s a very big possibility.

At this rate he won't be coming into SA until the New Year, we've been super cautious opening up to NSW, there's no way we open up to Victoria until they have it well under control, you'd think Adelaide would want him here ASAP if they've actually got him on board.

Disappointed that nobody has officially congratulated the Adelaide Football Club on winning their first ever AFL wooden spoon in here.

Congratulations to all involved, I couldn't be prouder of you all.

3-4 years at an absolute minimum before they'll have any chance of finals action IMO. They need to recruit a couple of recycled players that can help with the development of the current and new kids coming through but he'll definitely help get the off-field Boys Club circus that is going on.

There is a light at the end of their tunnel, retaining the decent kids they have recruited is the key, they tend to lose most of them once they start finding their feet.

Retention now is certainly the key, the likes of McAdam, Stengle, McPherson, Hamill, Schoenberg, Sholl and Butts are all about to get paid way overs as the club not only spreads the TPP across the squad but does their best to keep them.

Meanwhile O'Brien and Doedee can start negotiating a much bigger number in their next deal. O'Brien will win the BnF by a mile this year and Doedee is the next captain, both can name their price.
