plenty of talk doing the footy rumor mill
WB - My understanding, the WB may have gone cold on Aka, reason the club asked Aka to cool off in regards to his continue attack on Brisbane and Mathew, but Aka has gone the other way, he has stepped up his media commitments in the past couple of weeks and raised the bar with his stinging attacks
Crows - according to the craptiser have offered draft pick 14, rielly and meesen for carltons #1 pick
Carlton - will almost certainly trade Thorton, Richmond, WB and Hawks all very keen to obtain his services
Freo - Polak has asked Freo to put his name up for trade, Tigers again are very keen as they desperately need tall defenders
Bombers - Have put Adcock and Jason Johnson name on the trade table
Sydney - mail is they have gone luke warm on the Everitt deal and are not interested in Tarrant
Eagles, Have another tall forward on their shopping list, Tarrant is the #1 choice, crows may be keen to trade Perrie back to WA for the right player
looks like being one of the most aggressive trade periods in recent years

Ever since the Cows missed out on getting Gibbs under the father/son, I have been telling people that they will move heaven and earth to get the number 1 pick in the draft. I wouldn't be surprised if they traded a very big name player.

i will be very very suprised if Carlton traded is #1 pick, I think their is only 3 or 4 players in the league Carlton would accept for the #1 pick and none of them play for the crows

Playing well in the VFL means diddly squat. Exhibit A for the prosecution..Kent Kingsley. I rest my case. As for Akker, Essendon will pick him up in a heartbeat if everybody else passes but it was a nice thought.

Off the money on this one !!!
Reilly now established - Meesen will be required. If these 2 were even to be offered I think a pick in the 40's or 50's would be enough.

Does anyone know whether PRE-season Draft picks can be traded??
Ie, Should someone like a Peter Everitt stay out of the main draft but nominate for the PSD having verbally agreed to join a particular club (say Sydney), could another club (who could meet his salary demands, say Brisbane for example) get themselves ahead in the pecking order of the club intending to draft him?

Im pretty sure they cant be traded.
Also yes a club higher on the pecking order in the pre-season picks can pick him up if they so wish.

Sorry, messed up my example ... Lets say Brisbane had agreed to grab him in the PSD, I was wondering if Syd could trade for a higher PSD pick to nab him before the Lions got a chance.
I'm pretty sure you can't trade PSD picks aswell, but don't know for certain

with the everitt maybe going in psd. What he can do is say the club that picks me up has to pay me xx amount of dollers or a 3year contract that may scare other teams off.

Fact is by the Pre Season Draft, majority of clubs wouldnt be able to afford Spider under their Cap. Unless clubs plan to take him by not filling their list and delisting some big money earners - which might be a dead give away earlier in the trade season!

I disagree - and Kingsley is an incredibly bad example because all he did was hang back in the goal square and got fed. The feeding was of a high standard and augers well for the Cats in the AFL. The Bullants would have won the flag had it not been for the lack of finals experience. That was a very poor preliminary final against Sandy.
Playing well in the VFL means diddly squat. Exhibit B for the prosecution..Matthew McCarthy. One of the things that I read about the VFL this year is that the Bullants had a 'numbers back' style for the majority of the year (correct me if I'm wrong becuase I haven't seen much VFL action). That type of game doesn't usually bring home the bacon come finals time. I'd suggest that Carlton have a lot of depth in relation to VFL standard players but bugger all when it comes to AFL standard players.

REB
