Now THAT was one of the great Grand Finals of all time

No one can convince me that last years GF was better than this one. What a match.

Sydney won the Qualifying Final by 1 point - 13.7 (85) to 12.12 (84)
This one was won by West Coast by 1 point - 12.13 (85) to 12.12 (84)

well we talk about blockbusters and anzac matches re: collingwood v essendon BUT the rivalry between these 2 clubs this year is far better IMO this year than any showdown or derby or any blockbusters. well done west coast eagles but also to the swans for making it a remarkable grand final :D

Awesome last quarter. Been last quarter in a grand final ive ever seen. Back and forth...Eagles just keeping that nose in front. Sydney did everything they possibly could to win it but just couldnt. Big respect.

Was Barry Halls game the worst by a captain in a grand final?

The best side in the competition deservedly won today.
They play footy in the right style.
The window as Robert Walls said is open for a few more
years yet.
Well done to the SA boys Waters and Butler.
Spare a thought for Jamie Graham who missed out.
And for Nickoski who missed out and also played
in the WAFL g/f but lost playing for South Fremantle.

Well done Weagles.

WHAT A GAME!

Unbelievable GF, the best contest I've seen. Sydney started so slowly, but showed amazing courage to come back and get so close. They couldn't quite hit the lead though, Eagles just managed to stay in front.

Macca19, think you will find Kirk was capt. today. How about Ted Richards game. Why would the Bombers let him go?

Coz Sheedy is not a coaches bootlace anymore

Top game today a draw was a real possibility but the best team won in the end. WC did it the hard way last week against the crows then went on with it this week

Richards was sensational, Kirk was also terrific. Thought McVeigh was one of the main reasons they got back into the game after half time too.

I thought when Judd hurt his shoulder it was all Sydney for the last 1/4 . Does anyone else agree Judd ALWAYS looks like he is in constant pain when he plays?

Yes. The way he constantly grimaces makes it look that way.

I thought they were in all sorts when he was holding his shoulder; must have been alright though.

Loewe & Burke in'97 come to mind instantly.
But then again ,EVERY St.Kilda player has a shocker when they fluke an appearance in a GF every 1/4 century.
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

It was a great GF, didnt go but brother in law had ticket for me if the Crows got in. Been to quite a few, 79/ 81/82 etc, but for me the 97 prelim against the Bully's was the best and most emotional game I have ever witnessed, two rows behinnd the fence, right behind the goals, end Crows kicked last qtr, with my kids. Now man that was a game. Rehn threw the brace to the boundry 3/4 time. Was better than any game I have ever been to.
