Perrie - Last year both WA Clubs showed a keen interest, his stocks have probably not risen but for the right deal I would seriously consider, West Coast lack depth with tall forward options, maybe the crows would consider Gardiner

Massie - Maybe a Victorian club would be interested, his stocks have probably risen since last year and he may seek further opportunity, would he return to Carlton, would Carlton be prepared to off load Sporn or Thorton in return

Skipworth - my opinion Skippy should seek a trade, can't see too many opportunities for the lad, Van Berlo, Knights, Douglas and Proplyzia all have stronger claims, maybe a club like the Bulldogs would consider a straight swap for Faulkner

Welsh - Poor final series, I am not convinced he is over his injury troubles and also not convinced that you can play Welsh and Roo in the same forward line, maybe a club like Brisbane would be interested especially if they lose Bradshaw, a swap for young Ruckman in Cameron Wood would be a good deal

Other Targets (but highly unlikely)

Rusling, Grundy, Schammer, Butler, Waters, Monfries and Hurn

Deals I would stay away from,

Mackie, Kingsley, J Cloke, C Cloke

I implore people to be realistic with their trades, they must have some VALUE to another club (e.g. not Thurstens!!!)

Hinge goes OK SD, good solid year for the bays and still developing, any other club he may have got a game this year - definately worth keeping

Skippy has to move from Adelaide for his own deveopment to prove he can make it (Id tkae him at the Roos) and added bonus is he is out of contract.

good post totally agree, it needs to be win - win for both clubs, most importantly to get something you have to give something up

In regards to Hinge and Jericho it may depend on how much patience the club has, Jericho has obviously had some opportunity and is an absolute athlete while Hinge is untried and may be given another year, it might also depend on the Hart and Clarke's decisions, if both players retire then the club only needs to delist one further player

Skipworth, no doubt he needs a new football home and I think will be a good pick up and if I was adel I would ask for a high third round draft choice or a player like Faulkner from the WB

I like Hinge, talented young player. Has reasonable pace, can play on talls or smalls, and seems to be able to get a fist on most forward entries. However, we're really struggling for delistees, and he may find himself in trouble as I cannot see who else will go. This is all I can come up with:

* Clarke (Retire)
* Hart (Retire) Appears unlikely though, club has offered him some sort of a contract
* Jericho (Delist)
* Skipworth (Trade/Delist)

To be honest, I'm so sick of these rubbish suggestions involving Massie as trade bait. He played 20 odd games this year for the Crows, and did a terrific job. Had to play in a number of positions and really stuck to the task well. Why then would he be looking to off-load him after the best season of his career? It is pointless; he’s only 25 or 26 and is hitting the peak of his career. It’s an absurd idea to be looking to trade him.

Sporn? I wouldn't even trade Jericho for Sporn, and trust me, I don't rate Jericho in the slightest.

And Welsh for Cameron Wood? Where do I sign? That won't happen, not even a 1% chance. It would have to be more like Pick 14 + Welsh for Wood, and even still there is no way the Lions would give up Wood as he is an excellent ruck prospect.

Jason Akermanis - Wants to go to the Bulldogs. Lions say they'll play hard-ball. If the Bulldogs offer something reasonable, this will probably happen. If they don't.... Essendon, or another Melbourne based club may be a chance.

Matthew Moody - wants to return to WA (specifically Fremantle) at the end of 2007. Lions may trade now, possibly for a second rounder.

No, not really. Despite the Lions' huge injury list, he still couldn't break into the senior side. Marcus Allan and several rookies such as Scott Harding, Marty Pask managed to get games ahead of him.

Hinge will play AFL football if he can learn to keep his head up when he is in the front of a charging pack.

Sydney Dog - I think u have come up with some of the worst trade thoughts ever....Trent Sporn is a joke. Thornton isnt far behind. How you can mention blokes this is beyond me.

The Crows wont get rid of Perrie. Craig rates him that highly and with the lack of decent tall forwards around, there is no way they will give him to either WA team to strengthen probably the 1 area that both of those teams have, especially WCE.

Welsh wont be traded, after injury riddled season, he is just as likely to have a year like he did in 2005 next year. I can see us playing a minor role in trades with the only players possibly to be given away are Jericho, Skipworth & Griffin the most likely to be chopped!

We will focus on picking up some more young players with a good group of youngsters slowly being developed this year. Maric, Douglas, Porplysia, Knights, Van Berlo.

In regards to Massie, I agree he has had a great year but to get something you have to give something up, I mentioned the Navy Blues as they may be keen to welcome him back and they do struggle in defence, the other reason I mentioned Massie is because Torney and Hart play the same style of game and Obst and Pfeiffer are similar young players coming through, so with lot of these calls it is based on the balance of your list

I agree Sporn has not set the world on fire, but he was selected at #11 in the 2000 draft, unfortunately he has had a frustrating run with injuries, the crows may be keen to get him back to his home state, get him fit and see what he can offer, this is what the draft is about, fresh opportunity

In regards to Thorton, he, is 22, 193cm, 95kg, played every game for Carlton this year, averages 17 touches per game and has almost every Victorian club chasing his services, my opinion is he will blossom even further if you put him in a strong back 6 likes adelaide's, his numbers for this year are pretty impressive and would develop further next to Rutten and Bassett

Perrie and Welsh, 1. there has to be a fitness question over both of these blokes, 2. both players had a very ordinary finals season, Adelaide can not front up next year with the same forward line structure, Roo will play up forward so where does this leave Scotty and if the crows do decide to have a crack at Gardiner, Perrie may be the man the Eagles request

Welsh wont play anywhere other than Adelaide - big cry baby

(ex Adelaide boy and visitor to Heaven nightclub when he visits his ex Sydney team mates in Adelaide....)
Given Tarrants last 2 seasons, I would expect a 2nd or 3rd round pick is all you could expect - but he would fit in great at the Crows, given the lack of forwards and Hentshel being out for at least a year.

Collingwood has already put it's asking price on the table, 1st round pick plus a player, so that is the Pies starting point, I would think Collingwood will want a player that has leg speed and is a midfielder, I don't think Sydney can offer them this in exchange, secondly with Hall, MickyO, O'Keefe all playing good footy and Grundy and Vogels waiting in the wings I can't see Tarrant as a key priority

Given the Eagles need another tall forward and have plenty of young midfielders waiting for an opportunity, I would think they may be leading the early charge

Also Not sure if this is news in Adelaide but I belive Craigy has ruled out both Everett and Gardiner

Strong story from a few yrs ago was that Everitt had a meeting with the Crows, sat down and said my price is $900,000 a year. Ayres said, theres the door.

There is no chance Gardiner will play with the Crows next year, Craig is far too intelligent to even touch such waste product.

HAHA Mackie has shown alot more potential than Sporn, and you constantly object to that trade SD. Younger and more versatile than Sporn, and has played in a better team over the past 3 years as well.

why wouldnt you take him, he obviously has ability and that just needs to be channeled.

If geelong were after another ruckmen id hope that they would chase him.
