Adelaide Crows 2017

Talk on the national game

I don;t have any stats to back it up but it seems in the last couple of years if you get 3-4 goals up on the Crows they fold, I can't remember any recent stirring comebacks from them. Seem to be great when they are in front and everything is rolling along well.

Matt Crouch -

v Melb 20 of 29 touches uncontested.
v North 23 of 38 touches uncontested.
v Richmond 24 of 38 touches uncontested.
v Gold Coast 20 of 35 touches uncontested.

All in all very good numbers, but you don't notice him because he's not in there winning it for himself as the gun midfielders do.

They've been down by 3-4 goals in the first quarter nearly every week and are 6-2. Not sure what you mean.

You don't remember the Hawthorn game? They had a four goal lead on us at Qtr time and we ended up winning by four goals.

But after Round 1 you guys were super quick?

We certainly moved the ball quicker than previous years in the GWS game but Cameron and Milera have added some good speed through there when they go through.

Crows are certainly a quick side these days, but without trying to be a downer, how much of their perceived speed on the weekend came from the fact GWS lost two rotations in the first half on a hot day?

i reckon its been gradually improving since Pyke has been coach. He immediately brought in Knight and Atkins at the expense of players like grigg who we all thought would be next in line.

And adding cameron and now milera has just added to that.

I said we moved the ball quicker. Cameron and Milera add speed but it's useless if you can't get the ball in the first place.

I was talking more about in the second half of a game when you really need to grind out a win. I can't remember any recent rousing come from behind wins.

There was a lot of talk on here recently about viney being a bully and not finding the footy and it costing them the game in the last qtr.
It was great to see that unsociable footy work for Melbourne on the weekend and get one back.

I didn't subscribe to the notion "he's all talk", "he's a crab", "one dimensional" etc...
The bloke can clearly play & is a good fit for those around him.

I never said the other week he couldnt play. Said he didnt get the footy and was just fighting and wresting with his opponents in the last quarter which cost them the game.

He can play and obviously the coaching staff have spoken to him about his agression and I do believe tha he has more of a balance now.

For 5 of their wins they were already in front in the 2nd half, so impossible to comeback. It's the two losses really, and the concern there is the manner in which they were outplayed. All clubs have their mixed fortunes through a season, in fact most have already experienced it this season, and there will be more twists and turns to come. I think the Crows will address things enough to play finals, but I'm not sure how they'll fare in September with the constant harassing and more contested nature.

Hawthorn are the only club that springs to mind that has been able to do that in the last couple of years.

Nothing happens with his possessions, if the opp were concerned about him he wouldnt be getting 35 touches. Alot of Licuria about him.
