Talk was that the Crows would get a Monday night game for the last round, well that's definitely not happening. I guess in the end it doesn't matter as the finalists have the next week off anyway

Friday August 26
Adelaide v West Coast at Adelaide Oval, 7.40pm ACST

Saturday August 27
Geelong v Melbourne at Simonds Stadium, 1.45pm AEST
Essendon v Carlton at the MCG, 2.10pm AEST
Sydney Swans v Richmond at the SCG, 4.35pm AEST
North Melbourne v Greater Western Sydney at Etihad Stadium, 7.25pm AEST
Gold Coast v Port Adelaide at Metricon Stadium, 7.25pm AEST

Sunday August 28
St Kilda v Brisbane Lions at Etihad Stadium, 1.10pm AEST
Fremantle v Western Bulldogs at Domain Stadium, 2.40pm AWST
Hawthorn v Collingwood at the MCG, 3.20pm AEST

because knocking off friday afternoon and getting on the cans at the footy is awesome.

Doing it on a monday isnt.

Very pleased that it will be on a friday night.

Talk on 360 was that if the crows get a home final it might be on a thursday. That would also be good

Reckon they would only get a Thursday night home final if it was a Melbourne opponent

I dunno, I reckon they will guarantee 50k on a thursday whoever the crows play, whereas the bulldogs (or GWS obv) wont get that on a thursday

More to do with TV I think.
The AFL always likes a Victorian team for Thursday or Friday nights if possible

I have mentioned this a couple times. Round 23 Adelaide v WCE is the first FNF regular season fixture not to include a Victorian based team since 2003 from memory.

I bet Andy D has steam coming out of his ears.

It's all to do with TV rights.
The biggest market TV market is Melbourne so it makes sense to have a Victorian club play every week in the biggest time slot. Everything revolves around it

Jim..... It doesn't make sense. Play a Western Derby or Showdown Friday night and you will get a massive TV audience that would be much bigger than some of the shit that's been put on in recent years. Far bigger than you will get watching those games on TV on a Saturday afternoon too.

So Bulldogs travel to Perth for a Sunday game, seems fair..................not.

There is a bye after it so can't believe the fuss over this last round fixture

Massive **** up in my view. 6 months building towards a final 8 and a finals series and they give us fat old farts on Friday night and the chicks* on Saturday night. Any advantage of finishing top 4 is almost lost in a year where it will be crucial. All of this because the AFL were soft cocks on North and Fremantle last year. What the AFL should have said last year is it's your players, your finals series, do what you want resting players we couldn't care less.

*Quite looking forward to a look at the elite ladies game, calling it a "chicks" game gave my point more emphasis and I don't wish to disrespect them.

If the Crows get a home final they could play it on a Tuesday at 9:45am and they would get 50k.

This

Make no mistake the AFL is an extension of the VFL and the interstate clubs are only there for TV rights and sponsorship/marketing opportunities for the Melbourne based clubs.

AFL house is very afraid of the Victorian market hence why they have gone soft on relocating/killing ex-VFL clubs in the past 20 years even though for the nationalisation of the sport it is the right thing to do.
