What's the actual probability of a grand final actual going to 'golden point'?

Don't reckon I'll see it in my lifetime.

Yes, 3 in 70 years a draw at full time, but the probability of it again being a draw after extra time would be incredibly low

Yes I agree. Unless nobody could score because with the reduced cap the players were so completely ******.

That's a good point, do they get an extra quota of interchange rotations?

Would suck for the guys that got benched with 1 minute left having to sit out the rest of the extra time!

Actually, thinking about it more, the interchanges at the quarter breaks are free and above the 90 as it is, so they will surely get to change at the breaks as they normally do.

Except there is no break of play at the end of extra time, not even a siren. Once the 10 minutes is up its straight into golden point.

Never understood draws in footy. Both sides supporters leave deflated a drawn GF and making them all come back the next week is so antiquated to be laughable in this day and age. Always liked that with basketball, overtime.

Just play an extra 10 mins with two 5 minute halves.

You could imagine the outcry though if one end was favoured by a 5 goal breeze.

I kinda get both arguments on it, but imho I'd keep it as is. As has been said the instances of drawn GF's show how uncommon it is

In the last 10 years has there ever been a game at the MCG where 1 end is truly favoured by wind, let alone one that is worth 5 goal?

It's a paddock surrounded entirely with massive grand stands and there is no space for the wind to get through. It sure does swirl, but I can't remember it truly favouring 1 end recently.

You might be right, but Im sure theres been instances of one end being the favoured scoring end, at all grounds in some matches. I guess my point is that if we're going to change the rules surely they should cover every (presently) conceivable aspect?

Apparently it is golden point instead of golden goal because if a team kicks 7 points before the opposition kicks a goal they will have a higher score but lose the GF. If a team kics 7 points in a row they don;t deserve the flag!!!

That makes sense though. Would be a farce if they had a higher score but lost, no matter how many goes at winning they had
