Talk on the national game

Collingwood

Watched the second half of our NAB opener. Were down at half time, but had massive third term and appeared to have a bit more run in our legs compared to Geelong. Some good signs.

De Goey - this kid is ridiculously good and his stoppage work was top class, going to have a big impact this year

Gault - didn't come on until second half, but had an immediate impact, big grabs, strong workrate and kicked goals. Much prefer him over Spud White at this point (who incidentally spent the game in defence)

Swan - lots of time up forward and looked dangerous whenever he was near it, with himself, Fasolo and eventually Elliot up there, makes us look a little more potent

Witts - tap work was really good, didn't see a lot of him in play though

He's a bull and his work around the ground is great, but would like to see him win a few more taps. Was pretty solid tonight though.

He did look okay but when the ball is within reach, or there is a tackle to be laid he seems to be like a statue.

He needs to stop watching the game and start playing the game. I think he has the nous.

DeGoey looks a ripper. If he can break into the midfield this season will come on well.

Reckon Elliott is super important to Collingwood's chances this year. Has a bucketload of talent, but the Pies carried him for the last 3rd of 2015.

Don't reckon we'll see him for a while, got some real issues with his back

That would be a concern, although if Fas can have the same output as yesterday more often it will help.

He is generally ferocious around the ball. There would be few ruckmen who tackle the opposition as ferociously as he does.
He'd be well back in the line of players who frustrate Pies supporters.

He'd still be 21? Very much still developing - we've already had so much more service out of him than you'd expect for a big fella his age.

Yeah 21. He's shared a lot of the ruck duties with Witts so that neither of them get cooked before they hit peak age.

But Ricky Nixon has us at 10th:

10th Collingwood (Basket case got lots of quality kids but too many individuals) They seem to lack a game plan they are renowed for that beats the other team. The Coach (who i have time for....8 more months exactlu was an individual playing a team game. Can he change his ways and come up with master tactic like Clarkson every year. I think he can and prove me wrong and they can play finals. And if they do i'll marry Krystal Santuccione Paul Pellegrino can be best man and Paul Lewis can play "Good Old Collingwood forever" Can Sidebottom and Elliott take games by the scruff of the neck we know what Pendels & Swanny can do. They will benefit from the draw finishing out of the finals last yea bit like Geelong
