Didnt want to make a new thread specifically for the story re Dustin Martin, below, so making this as a general discussion thread.

Looks like Dusty in the news for wrong reasons on weekend - http://m.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/ric ... lhfdp.html

More generally, I'll have a go at some predictions

Premier - Freo
Rising Star - Schache
Leading goalkicker - Cameron

Such a sweet, quality young man. Makes you want to put a little piece of him in your pocket, and never let him fade away.

As they say, some tigers just can't change their...stripes.

Brownlow, Daisy Thomas. He's a star (so everyone keeps telling me).

Us to finish last.

Must admit, I didn't really care about the season until we picked up some height. I think I've only been saying it for ohh, 9 years. Now we've got some height with some ability (note, ABILITY - not like Wood and Warnock).

So I'll be looking for some/any development in game plan circa 2015, an improvement in skills and intensity and a general desire to get about like you're playing for a club that means something. I know it'll take a long time but I'm more positive about the year than I was before the draft.

In saying that, I can't see us beating anyone if they're on their game. We might sneak a couple against maybe Bris and someone else off a cheap break but overall I still can't see us winning too many games simply because our forward line is still non existent.

Prem - hopefully not Freo. That'd be a disaster for the comp.
RS - I'd say Weitering would have more hope than Schache because it'll be tough to transition in as a big forward. But I reckon maybe the Essendon mid, Parish might fit right into Essendon's midfield and get a fair bit of it.
LG - Cloke. Won't leave the goalsquare and will get a squillion frees.

That would be nice.
Apart from the fact he gets a rough a deal down there from the umps, the goal square is the only spot inside 40 metres from which he's an 80 per cent certainty of kicking a goal.

Have they made goal squares smaller?

How's this poor bastards bad luck?

http://www.sydneyswans.com.au/news/2015 ... er-setback

The Sydney Swans can confirm that Alex Johnson has suffered another setback in his recovery from ongoing knee issues.

Johnson underwent a hybrid LARS procedure two weeks ago on his left knee - his fourth knee reconstruction since 2013.

Since the operation, the area has become infected, an issue Johnson has faced since his initial knee reconstruction back in 2013.

The Club and Alex are liaising with medical staff to determine the next course of action.

Dustin Martin's Saturday.

Pre's for Stereos. Stereos. Shots at the bar of a Japanese Restaurant after Stereos. Threatens to stab a woman with a chop stick.

Pre-season, done right.

C'mon, can't you let me have a shot at my own side without piling on?

Odds on a 'random' drug test not occurring this week?

Poor bloke. Hasn't played since the 2012 gf and was exceptional that day... I hope the poor lad catches a break soon. Must be devastating!

Kid can certainly play

KB thinks Dusty should be outed for 12 months....

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Richmond’s club statement yesterday involving Dustin Martin’s apology for threatening a woman in a public place was pathetic.

There were the usual regrets from the player. The apology and embarrassment from Martin and the comment that the club leaders will talk to Martin to consider action later in the week.

Not one word that violence against women is totally unacceptable. And this is at an AFL club that has the first and only female President. This allegation of this incident of threatening a woman to stab chopsticks in her eye as well threatening to kill her needed a more urgent and stronger response from Richmond.

This incident will test Richmond’s President Peggy O’Neil, CEO Brendon Gale, the Tigers coaching panel and the club’s board on which notable administrators such as Mal Speed sit on.

For this is not player number 42 on the club list, this is arguably their best player.

The AFL and clubs are strong against family violence and support for women with their respect and responsibility policies.

It’s hard to imagine a more serious allegation. A 12 month suspension and a $50,000 donation to an appropriate women’s organisation seems a realistic and fair conclusion for the club, the AFL and the image of the game.

I’m KB, that’s my take

Surely he should get some punishment? Just can't go round threatening people and punching walls
