My apology, started a thread at the same time, but lets try to keep it to one thread

Initial Thoughts

Most observers will point to the Eagles record against the crows, personally I am not sure if that is worth goals on the scoreboard.

Tonight I sat down and watched the eagles performance pretty closely, I'm not convinced what conclusions you can draw from tonights game, the Bullies looked like a u/17 side going up aganist a senior side, players like Cooney, Ray and griffen all got stage fright and the skinny bodies of the Bullies were pushed aside, the result was 50+ clangers, so many when little or no pressure was applied, this dried up their inside 50 enteries and only 28 inside 50's for the game.

Eagles, obviously their strength lies in the midfield, Cox, Judd, Cousins, Kerr, Stenglien, Embly and Fletcher, but the link play between midfield and forwards would concern me if I was an Eagle supporter, most importantly if Lynch and Hansen do not kick goals the Eagles may dry up.....

Rutten is the ideal match up for Lynch, while Stevens, Bock or Kenny (if selected) are obvious selections for Hansen, in regards to Hunter, I am not sure if the Eagles can aford this week to push him forward as the crows forward line with Perrie, Welsh, Bock and maybe Roo is a lot bigger and stronger then the WB

Wirrapunda will be a big loss as he has a history of slaughtering the crows across HB

X Factor, how benefical was the Crows week off and selection, my mail Burton is a certainty and Mcleod is about 80 / 20 to play, Roo 50 / 50 if he trains this week

On sheer ability this is no contest West Coast are a superior team.
Because Adelaide is fresher, and at home gives Adelaide a chance.

Adelaide is worried about West Coast.
All the press will be highlighting all week will be how to stop the West Coast
star players, even the players will talk that up.
We must close thier midfield, we must go man to man, we will match up
with, we have to tag him......
This may ultimately be the defeatist attitude.

The talk will be similar to the 2002 SANFL grand Final when Centrals talked
about stifling Sturts run and handball and.......and Centrals lost.

I will support the boys but am not confident of victory

If its a nite game it would improve Adelaides prospects.

Yes Eagles have a boost of midfield stars, Judd, Kerr, Cox, Embly and Cousins but this alone does not make them a superior team, Finals footy has a habbit of proving star system does not work and it is the team with the most even contribution often wins the contest

I will conceed the Eagles have the stars but I will not conceed they have the superior team

Hate both teams....but will be hoping Adelaide beat WC just to shut up all the cocky WC supporters over here. It will also make it easier for the Sydney supporting hubby to get a flight out of Perth to the GF should Sydney make it again.

Craigy in his time at the crows has not played half fit players and if Macca and Birdman are selected then they will be fit to play

Last night, Woosha played Hansen, Embly and Kerr and all three played well

Given the crows huge pre-season these boys should still have a pretty solid fitness base

We shall see Syd. The temptation will be enormous. Surely the Birdman is ready but the Roo and Macca would surely represent a big risk if they were to be selected by the Fruit Tingles.

Birdman always plays well fresh, so if fit I have no concerns with Brett, Macca, the type of injury he had, once the infection is cleared, their is basically no risk other then match fitness, but as Kerr and Embly proved last night Class players can come in and perform, both players had more then 25 touches

Roo, well definitely higher risk

Last time these 2 played in a final West Coast won.
West Coast are younger and superior to Adelaide, just look
at the head to heads the last 3 years.
In 2 years time West Coast will still be on top, Adelaide will decline.

can I borrow your crystal ball, you can predict two years down the track.

Wait, haven't the footy public been predicting a saints flag for the past three years and for the crows to decline based both sides list, and what has been the result

So by your theory if the crows do when and for arguement sake sydney win, the crows will win easy as the crows has a 7 / 1 record angainst sydney in the past 4 years....

History counfs for **** all

Mal, you make too many easy observations

Phil

I think the EAGLES have a host of superstars, but they are poorly coached

Before everyone gets all upset

Woosha lost the game against the swans, the structure was poor and he only has one card up his sleeve, throw Hunter forward

Forget the WB game, the swans showed two weeks ago, under pressure the Eagles have no game plan, they rely on their stars, if Rutten can Hold Lynch, it's a big ask for Hansen to fire up forward, if it pans out this way, Judd, Cousins, Kerr and Embly will need big days out, if two of these guys mis-fire, then the eagles will be in some trouble

My opinion, to win finals it is about even contributions, Geelong for years had a star line up, Ablett, Brownless, Stonham, Couch, Hocking, Bairstow, you could go on and on, but the star system let them down in finals....

I am quietly confident
