Footy big bash?

Was a little surprised at this concept. Just not sure what it hopes to achieve.

Whether you like it or not T20 cricket has done great things in bringing kids and casual fans to the game. And recently retired stars can still play at a very high level, especially in a short form.

With footy, I'm not sure what this will achieve. Seeing fat blokes out there playing well below the standard we remember has some novelty value (ala slowdown) but I don't really see it bringing new people to the game.

I cant see this getting off the ground. The big bash is current players playing a more spectacular form of the current game. There is no way you can make AFL more spectacular in a shorter format especially with past players that are unfit.

Not sure where to put it but it looks pretty set that AFL games will be getting shortened in the near future

Early talk is games will be shortened from around 120 mins to around the 100-105 minutes with half time breaks reduced from 20-15 minutes

Bet player wages, membership prices, ticket prices etc etc won't drop in price
