Talk on the national game

Re: Crows 2015

Tex has a bit of Fev feel about him for mine... just slightly dopey and candid. Not as idiotic but has potential.

If he's made skipper then its because he's a leader. Media will rip him apart but the fact (is it fact?!?) he's being considered means he must be in high regard at the club.

You can tell the players love him and the team plays better when he is in it. And if he has a good game we rarely lose. Also lives and breathes the crows which you probably couldn't say about danger, though you could about Sloane and VB.

I like the appointment, even though it wasn't who I was expecting.

Gotta love Titus :)

@TitusOReily: Adelaide announces Patrick Dangerfield will not be captain because he's leaving at the end of the year. I may be paraphrasing.

Pretty big surprise this, congrats to Tex. I hope the captaincy goes well for him.

I'm a fan of Tex and I reckon he can become a better player as the captain of Adelaide, he's a matchwinner and the type of footballer that will take the game by the scruff of the neck and lead from the front, the players would love playing with him and will really get behind as the new skipper.

Congrats to him. I'm sure people said the same thing about Jonothan Brown when he took over Brisbane.

Does the Captaincy really affect how you kick and catch the footy.
In todays AFL group with massive leadership groups and people employed to oversee leadership development, it is more than just one man holding fort.

I have to admit i was surprised at the appointment, but it is hard for anyone that isnt at the coalface to determine the quality of the appointment.

Time will tell though.

I think it will help him too with the second efforts. Sometimes he doesn't put as much effort in with second efforts as he should and maybe knowing he's the captain and needs to set the best possible example might spur him on a bit.

Not many teams have those players with credentials like that. God knows how long it would take the Crows to find someone like that.
I just think they have very similar traits in regards to there may have been better "media" positive options, but it's the way the playing group respond and respect him, along with a honest rawness Tex provides to the media that make them similar.

His second efforts currently consist of giving someone a cheeky jab in the kidney once the ball has gone outside a 3m radius of him.

Not sure how many games you guys see of the crows live but tex works pretty hard for a big bloke. Might not be he best tackler so it might look like he is running around like a headless chook but his second efforts are fine imo
