I think Smith will play up the ground with Henderson back. not sure if he will go through the midfield of via a wing

Thompson will spend some more time in the FWD line, as pointed out he gets hurt on the defensive running but is a capable goal kicker and still wins plenty of clearances.

Brown, Hartigan and Cheney as the backline?
You would want to kick some decent scores because with those three you will give up 100+ points every week.
Midfield and forwards good on paper and can match it with most teams

I still think he could play on the Big FWD and compete pace wise comfortably - all depends on Hartigans development really. Also would you rather a bloke get hit up on a lead or get outmuscled in a one on one ala Cheney when playing on a key FWD?... catch 22 :D

Im my opinion I don't think he can. But thats my opinion.

I think this season you should look at starting B.Crouch on the ball with Thompson starting up forward.

yeah I agree with Thompson starting FWD, I think B Crouch could be set for a big year. (fingers crossed anyway :D )

I think Thompson could be useful up forward. A strong experienced player will always make a defender nervous. So it could be a good option.

As for B.Crouch, just let the kid roll. He could be in for a very big one.

With Talia getting the best defender I think a combination of those guys can work or at least do the job to a degree. I think when you come up against teams with 2 big forwards then it will be tough. Especially if one gets away. Not many options.

On last years form, Brown certainly needs to improve. He has the talent, but was extremely poor last year. Mind you, we as a side turned the ball over so much i wouldnt have wanted to be a defender in that side for quids.

From what we saw of Hartigan, I think he can match it one on one with the big fellas , its more his decison making and disposal which he struggled with. Mind you he is only half a dozen games into his AFL career.

Jeansch for me (while he has a face everyone wants to punch, crows supporters included) had a break out year and can play at this level. He was one of the few positives last year IMO

I do think you still need a shut down small or midsized defender.

Yes I'd like to see Hawkins and Clark up against those midgets.

it looks to be a sensational year in SA footy this year. crows and port could both go top 4, cant wait to see these demon coaches go head to head

and although carlton will topple the both of ya :D they say the student will always beat the teacher? ie: walsh to win it before hinkley? :D

Not sure where to put this, but...

Interesting article in the Age last week. Rory Sloane's take on a counterbalance for free agency:

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/c ... 3kdwy.html

Something has to be done. Tom Boyd able to cut a contract after a year, holding the Giants ransom to get a deal done is a tell tale sign we need something to counteract FA.

Good article/idea. I think something must be gangled in front of the players against free Agency. They still have the option of moving around but they also have the benefit of staying loyal to one club.

Every player seems to be free agency. The only people who would think the Tom Boyd situation was good for football is Tom Boyd and the AFLPA.
