Was talking to a few mates on the 2014 recruits very interesting the way different people see differant players we only agreed on a couple listed below

HITS

Mumford- fine mine the best recruit and by a long way, great out put.
Del Santo- we all agreed his been very good
Buddy- Speaks for itself
Miles- I think this could could be a gun

Misses

Clinton Young- Spud
Daisy Thomas- Overated
Jessie White- Gives nothing
Colin Silva- Waste of talent

Undecided

Matt Thomas-

We couldn't agree on anymore!

I had Betts as undecided as his out put has been ok but the figure is on should Adelaide expect more? Idiots had him as a hit
I had White as a hit think his been great for Port. Some had him a miss some undecided
I think Vince has been very good for Melbourne
Same as Dom Tyson

Be interesting to hear other peoples thoughts.

betts is most definitely a hit. 9th on the total goal kicking for the year, and 46 goals so far is the best for any small forward except for breust.

that is more goals than lynch, jenkins, cloke, thomas, pavlich, petrie, darling wingard, elliot.

white, vince, tyson definitely hits. been great.

buddy has been worth the money for sure. no other player can win a game by himself like he can. if he has a day out there is basically no way his team loses, and you cant say that of almost any other player.

agree with your misses there too. daisy thomas had an injury interrupted pre season which could have stopped him a lot, but im sure they expected more from him.

bit harsh on clinton young too. he isnt the best going around but at his best he is in the pies best 22 and they got him for basically nothing.

I agree Betts output has been ok but $600k a year vs output? I'm undecided.

Kick 50 a year for 2-3 years in a row and I'll deem him a hit

Agree for $600k a year plus his not really a long term player who will be around in their next premiership window (which imho the Crows are miles away from, need to turn over 10-15 blokes before they are even close)

His performances have been a pass but the whole package for me has been a miss so far.

He is definitely an improvement on who was playing that role last year.

Supposedly Betts is on $500k not $600k, IMO a hit.

It would be interesting to know how many players at other AFL clubs are on $500k that arent going to be part of the their clubs next premiership window.

For me its more about bad list management than anything against Betts as a footballer.

I know it's not as simple as this, but Betts is on half of Buddy's money but has kicked more than half the goals Buddy has.

$500k isn't "star" money, it's "good" money. His goals and assists would suggest he's been a good player.

Jimbo, We actually spoke about a few of them and I believe before Everitt got injured he was very good and I think Polec has a pass mark although had a very lean month.

He is only 27. Not sure crows are in 5+ year st Kilda style rebuild.

Well I would agree with that, but we can only judge him on his first year so far and I think that's a pass. If he kicks 40+ every year that's a pass. Once again there isn't too many in the comp that do that.

They should be yet you keep resigning on 2-3year extensions to B and C grade footballers.

Jaensch, Wright, McKay etc etc

imho Crows are 4-5 years at best.

you dont win premierships with 3-4 A graders and only another 5-6 up to AFL standard. One thing all premiership sides have is great depth and depth wise the Crows are one of the weakest in the AFL and carried by too few.

Way to many spuds on their list they need to turnover to give them any kind of depth to become a premiership threat.

For me these players need to be turnoved by the time the Crows are next a premiership threat
-E.Betts
-S.McKernan
-J.Porplyzia
-Podsiadlly
-Graham
-Petrenko
-Rutten
-Henderson
-L.Thompson
-S.Thompson
-L.Johnston
-N.Van Berlo
-A.Otten (due to bad injury run)

Still will never be anything more than B Graders at absolute best.

Good season in a very average side isnt saying alot about their ability.
