Yes, i'd say Port or the Crows, but i dont think either club would want to give up too much for him - maybe Skipworth at the Crows, or Thurstans, Ezard, Port. Whether or not the Cats would agree to any of those players is debateable though. Then again, maybe the SA clubs rate him higher than the average footy follower, and may be willing to offer something a bit better.

Could be a three way deal with Brisbane so we can snaffle Bradshaw, it might even involve James Kelly. Geelong needs Bradshaw more than they do a Mackie, but would be sorry to see Kel go, even if he's done bugger all this season.

You can have Thurstans mate,a sensible replacement for Kent Kingsley.

Even Kent doesn't wear dark nail polish! No sale.

I cant believe people keep putting Thurstons up for trade bait - you need to be worth something to be considered!!!
Mackie would be great back at the Crows and Port as he would play most of the season with the bays!!!!

in all seriousness he shouldnt be on an AFL list, he isnt upto standard and in four years to only play 37 games and not consolidate in the league team shows this.

More than alot of players play in 4 years.....Doesnt help he gets put back into the 2's as soon as he has 1 off game. He played some quality games for them this year!

Mackie was a top 10 draft pick, by memory the cats have been playing him across HF, maybe he needs to play across HB

he was recruited to play across half forward, and played a few games on the wing this year.
he played his junior footy up forward.
MDM
i understand that he has played more games than most do in 4 yrs, but if he showed form and was consistent he wouldnt be dropped.

if the news is correct about bomber retaining his job, does this mean Mackie will stay or be even more keen to move on?

id suggest MACKIE will leave because he isnt happy with the contract offer and he wouldnt be offered any-more at any other club

Syd and Mike: The good oil?

Two interesting Geelong 'rumours' have surfaced on this site in the last week or so. Syd reckons Bomber will remain at the club but Geelong's review isn't due to be completed until tomorrow. I'm still hoping Bomber moves on here. Mad Dog reckons Mackie is gone, you know Mackie isn't that right Mike? If so, it will be an interesting 'window' into what Mackie might be thinking about the contract negotiations, that is, if the Mackster and Mikey are in regular contact.
Not too sure about where Syd got the oil on Bomber, as I can't see anything anywhere officially or unofficially that says Bomber will stay or go..where did you hear this Syd Dog? As for Mackie, no doubt he is holding out for more doh re mi as would any player in his situation. He could be in real trouble if he overestimates his value to the Cats. I think Mackie would not be missed by the club and he is an example of one of many players we have put in considerable effort into for not a lot of return (others being Playfair, Gardiner and McCarthy).
It will be interesting to see if your mail delivers gentlemen.

REB

Mackie was a top 10 draft pick - true.
But, only because Geelong took him.
He was a bit of a smokey at the time I remember, and I beleive would have fallen into the second round had the Cats not called his number.

spot on.
in my honest opinion he hasnt shown enough to suggest he should even be on AFL list and he should be happy with the base salary. i know there are many players that fit this category and he unfortunately is one.
he may think he is worth more then what the club is offering and thats fair enough, but at the end of the day you are only worth what the market says you are worth and if he isnt too careful he will be back at glenelg next year. assuming he comes back to adelaide after not negotiating a contract at geelong, he may well stay in vic.

He will get picked up by someone as a trade if not by an Adelaide team. He was a smokey at the draft, but my understanding is that the teams that had pick 8-10 were all extremely keen on him as well.
Will be interesting.
