Was going to be my next question.

So Watson is stripped, like the NRL did with the Storms premierships, do the history books show nobody won it that year?

They should award it to second place like they would in the Olympics when someone is stripped of their medal.

It would by a shit way to be awarded a Brownlow though.

Mentioned on Footy Classified that in either 30 players tested or 30 tests all up, over the period, only once was it declared by a player he'd been injected with something, but others listed things to minute details like taking panadols.
I'd had a bit if sympathy for the players, but when that was mentioned, it's hard not to see them as being somewhat complicit in it.

I previously felt empathy, but those statements change the game a bit. Probably hard to go against the expected behaviour as established by leadership, but this is one of those crappy moments in life when going against the herd (sorry pun) is the correct thing to do and going with it gets you into trouble.

Can't believe some people are comparing it to Cronullas penalty. Cronulla did it for a month, not an entire season like Essendon and admitted it instead of denying it like the Bombers did.

You can compare it because the lawyers for the players told them that they should have pled guilty and they would have got max 3 months, but they decided not to

Even as a Bombers fan (and someone who was a fan of both his dad and his uncle when they played), no way should Jobe Watson be allowed to keep his Brownlow.

Regardless of anything, he has been found guilty of taking performance enhancing substances in the same season he won the medal. It should automatically be stripped.

And I agree that the outcome should be like what the NRL did with the Melbourne Storm's premierships. List no winner for that year (2012).

I agrue with you about him losing the medal but not with the end result.

I think its similar to when an athlete wind a gold medal and is found guilty of doping. The gold is then given to the 2nd place getter. I think this should be done. Obviously its a shit way to get a Brownlow or a gold but I think its the correct result.

Probably agree with Holden. If it was in the months after the 2012 season, then re-awarding the medal would be fair enough. Feel that in a team environment and Aussie Rules culture, to accept the mdeal in the circumstances after a few years and the publicity that goes with it, gives me the perception of being too concerned with individual glory.

All 12 players at Essendon can leave at seasons end if they choose and will be listed as DFA's. A fair few are from WA so I'd suspect the two Perth clubs would be looking closely at them

Essendon have rung West inquiring about three players (no names divulged).

All other clubs say they have not been contacted.

I think the one bloke ripped off here is Saad. He took a sponsors product on game day and got 2 years. Drug cheat???

Any irony that he'll more likely be on Essendumbscum's list in a few weeks time?

Did anyone else read David Kings dribble about 'loans' being put in place so that Adelaide (among others) fans can see their players "play" (albeit for Essendon). Seriously, why would another club want to give Essendon a leg up given the circumstances?
