Impey has a lot of talent and did well in the first half but got smashed when it counted.

Only Port fans like you think we are putting all the eggs in the Betts basket. We are relying on McKernan to take us to our next flag.

Betts goal from the boundary mid-last quarter was while Impey was off the field with a rotation. Betts first goal was a gimme from a Trengove brain fade.

Betts last goal was pretty much junk time.

"...Impey probably had the better of him for the bulk of the night...." . I'll stand by that.

While Impey was in the forward line. Betts only goal kicked on Impey was from a Martin flop. Majority of Betts touches came from when Impey wasn't standing him. I'll also stand by your quote.

Yep.

And when you think that wingard and gray had no impact at all, the game of betts looks even better

If a small forward gets three or more your man has been flogged. If you are standing a small forward and he gets five kicks for four goals then you lose. What you are slagging off at Betts for is the very same thing you were defending Daneil Motlop for a decade ago. Betts has a fine record as a small forward and yeah they paid overs for him, but I'd suggest that his recruitment paid dividends yesterday.

...but it's ok to slag off any Hawthorn player from any era.

If read, you'll note I said "Impey probably had the better of him for the bulk of the night"....again, Betts first goal from a freebie, his last in junk time when the match was won and his third while Impey was on the bench, taking a breather.

Gavin Excel. Just thought I bring up a name that has nothing to do with the conversation. :D

What a gun! I actually agree with much you say about Betts but the Motlop reference had plenty to do with the current debate IMO. Me? Slag off at the Hawks? NEVER. :)

Are you a defender - Yes
Did your forward get a kick on you - Yes
Did he kick a goal - Yes
Did he kick more than one - Yes

Then as a defender you were beaten.

Well done Ben Rutten on a very good defensive career.

Now just nudge Porplyzia towards the door.
