Talk on the national game

It's got to be one of two things.

Team was using OTC type supplements. Sometimes these contain compounds that are prohibited by WADA, ie. DMAA or yohimbine. If this is this case, we are looking at a storm in a teacup.

The other scenario is that they were systematically doping. Perhaps growth hormone compounds or exogeneous Testosterone, but only enough to fall under the prescribed limits set by WADA.

So if they are prohibited and they know they are prohibited, then that's systematic breaking of the rules and therefore not a storm in a teacup...

the "Pharmacist" surely would have had to have known this...

Not being argumentative, just think that if there are banned substances in the supplements and these are known about then they should get the same punishment dopers...

IMHO...

The punishment shouldn't be the same as if they were using PEDs. However, there should be some sort of a slap on the wrist and use the opportunity for awareness on supplements.

The thing I don't get is I don't see much benefit for an AFL footballer using these types of OTC supps that contain WADA prohibited substances. So for such minimal benefit why knowingly run the risk?

They say 25 players were injected and they had 17 soft tissue injuries. I wonder what percentage of those who were injected also had a soft tissue injury? Watson didnt get injected but had a soft tissue injury.

Sets a dangerous precedent for future punishments if individuals are caught.

It would take some balls to ban the 2nd biggest club in the land for 2 years. Looking @ the press conference yesterday however and I saw some of the biggest names in the history of football look horrible and that didn't send a good message.

For the sake of footy I hope this is a storm in a tea cup.....

They won't cop a ban, TV rights deal will ensure that.

Reckon though the AFL will want to take a big stand on this, so would expect the club to cop a huge $ penalty .. suspension or legal action against some official personnel, possibly even recruiting bans (if the AFL has the channel within their laws to achieve that).

None of which will hurt them this season, but will hurt for a few years to come .. They will need for the Bombers to feel some serious pain out of this to have any form of deterrent effect.

But its the ASADA/WADA conducting the investigation.

The AFL cant neatly sweep this under the carpet like they usually do.

Yep, and theyd determine the sanctions dont they?

A VFL player copped an 18 month ban recently for using/importing a pre work out product.
