ADELAIDE 36ers basketballer Mitch Creek continues to flirt with an AFL career, confirming he’ll train with Essendon after the NBL season.

Creek was tested by the Bombers and Geelong last winter and while his heart is still with basketball he’s ready to listen if an AFL club comes to him with a big money offer.

It's really only a matter of finding out one thing. Is he as good as he thinks he is?

Basketball wise IMO, no. In his short NBL career he's known for talking himself up and making outlandish statements.

The 36ers are having a good season 2nd on the ladder but he was a part of the 36ers teams that finished bottom the past two seasons and he came out a month or so ago saying he and the team aren't interested in just winning the championship this season or even multiple championships but want to create a dynasty. After consecutive wooden spoons I'd say just concentrate on trying to win the one championship for now. Also in the lead up to the most recent game against Cairns he said he really wanted to flog them because there are players on their team he personally really dislikes off the court. 36ers won that game at home by just 2 points. I remember when the 36ers first signed him from the AIS about 3-4 years ago he immediately said something like he's going to be a star in the NBL, which to this point hasn't happened.

No matter the sport I'm not a fan of young guys who haven't done anything yet talking about how they could do this and that but clearly AFL teams have shown interest in him in the past and he is 6'5" and probably more athletic than any player in the AFL but doesn't mean he can play.

In a follow up 36er Mitch Creek has gone on radio and said Advertiser footy journo Jai Bednall has taken him out of context re: his AFL future which Bednall disputes so he has now posted the full audio of his quick interview with Creek as he "heavily values his reputation".
