With a lot of talk and focus on Tippett, judd etc and their extra earnings over the weekend, i thought it would be interesting to look at players with supposed 3rd party deals at the moment. If this topic is inappropriate feel free to delete.

Some that i have thought of are Daisy Thomas and Adam Goodes with cadbury, anyone on the footy show as a panelist, Bob Murphy and the age newspaper. Sure there are others out there

I think the whole 3rd party arrangements (as it's called) is going to finish up being;

If a club sponsor attempts to contract you for endorsements etc, then it must be included in the salary cap
If a company outside of the club sponsorship (say 5AA) asks you for endorsements, then that will be deemed outside the salary cap.

The obvious issue (which the AFL bring on themselves) is if the club get a minor sponsor, they might, rather than take the money as sponsorship, send that money the way of a particular player and keep it outside the salary cap.

Best of luck AFL with the 'restriction of trade' rules they're breaking.

I see Carlton has 16 players that "work" for Visy.
