AFL rule changes - including no wrestling in ruck

Of course the rules committee had to change something otherwise their positions would be unrequired.

So they've changed the rules to no wrestling in the ruck - not sure how I feel about this.

1) Positive - no more instances of blokes grabbing each other and falling to the ground without the ball even being touched.

2) Negative - wrestling is part of the skill of a ruckman getting into position to influence the game by tapping the ball to a team mate.

One thing's for sure - A Sandilands will be first picked in my Dream Team!!!!

It's no wrestling until the ball has left the umpires hand. A nothing rule change that will not impact on anything. People can put their pitchforks away

Well it might change abit because some ruckman might start having a run up from around the ground which will then spike ruck injuries and then the rules commitee will come up with another rule to change it again. Its a bloody joke stop stuffing up our great game.

Yep, no need for this rule to be changed. I think it's fine the way it is.
Imagine how many frees against rucks will give haha.

Agreed.

If they feel the need to change things, change all the ones they have already changed back to the way they were for 100 years.

I'd like to see less wrestling in the ruck. I hope the rule change works or is revised until it does...

Except that there hasn't actually been a span of 100 years where the game stayed the same. Rule changes have been a part of our game the whole time the we have had the game.

Many parts of our game we take for granted are a result of rule changes over the years.

I say all this despite thinking this new ruck rule is a very minor change not worth losing any sleep over.
