Round 4 Adelaide v GWS

Postby D14 » Tue Apr 17, 2012 10:57 am

A few changes are needed this week my team would look like this.

Jaensch - Rutten - Shaw
Johncock - Talia - Doughty
Mackay - Thompson - VanBerlo
Callinan - Lynch - Petrenko
Porplysia - Tippett - Walker

Rucks/ Jacobs - Dangerfield - Sloan

Int/ Jenkins - Smith - Lyons

Sub/ Vince

Ins/

Jenkins - For 3 reasons. Been playing well in the SANFL, give Jacobs a greater rest & leave Tippett in the forward line to concentrate on kicking goals.

Jaensch - A bit of X factor coming out of defence and makes our kick ins less predictable.

Shaw - Playing very well in SANFL and was great in the NAB Cup

Lyons - Also playing well in the SANFL

Outs/

Otten - looking very slow at the moment and needs a spell

Kerridge - I think other players should be getting a game before him at this stage in his development like Lyons.

Martin - It might be good to give him another chance but I think there are a couple of players before him.

Reilly - Maybe a touch unlucky but I want to see changes.

Dont know why we need changes after one below par effort against a top 4 side :?

Agree Otten needs a spell, Brodie Martin isnt a defender needs to play in a rotation or on a wing.

Cant play Lynch, Jenkins, Walker and Tippet in the same side either, need rotations.

I know its against GWS but its round 4 so no need to rest players either. Kerridge should play the whole game for pure experience

My Side

Reilly - Rutten - Shaw
Johncock - Talia - Doughty
Mackay - Thompson - VanBerlo
Callinan - Lynch - Petrenko
Porplysia - Tippett - Walker

Rucks/ Jacobs - Dangerfield - Sloan

Int/ Vince - Smith - Kerridge - Martin

IN - Shaw
OUT - Otten

Your right, but I still think Kerridge has been brought into the side a little to quickly especially when there is no real need as other players are performing in the SANFL. My thoughts on Jenkins were more about it being a long year and we don't want to burn Jacobs out and I think Tippett needs a big week as a forward to get his goal kicking confidence up. Shaw needs to come into the side IMO so maybe the 3 changes are all that are needed.

Shaw does need to come in for Otten, Kerridge is rated very highly - we dont know the ins and outs of what goes on so hard to say if he has been bought in to early. I think he got taken to Melbourne last week as Sturt had the bye, get him used to travelling and the prep etc but actually played as Hendo went out. Does Hendo come back in? I think Kerridge should play against GWS and have a full AFL hit out. AFC/Kerridge have nothing to loose and plenty to gain from him playing again this week.

If hendo plays, he plays as the sub and Martin misses i would say.

The main thing Tippett needs is to learn to kick like a forward - his problem is technique not confidence - his drop is atrocious as the commentators say.
Until he does learn that we need another forward option and he should continue in the ruck resting up forward.
I'm also still concerned about Walker's tendency to go to sleep and wonder whether playing at CHF would force him to stay awake.
I'd still like to see if Rutten could do a Neitz at FF as he gets a little slower in the critical defence position - we need to start training someone else for FB anyway.
Vince has been disappointing so far apart from in the NAB final - maybe a wing, maybe replace...
Ottens also looked OK against soft opposition, but doesn't perform under pressure at the moment.
EPIGENETICS - Lamarck was right!

What do people think of Petrenko so far this year?

Last couple of weeks he has looked a bit disinterested and not playing to what we have seen. I have noticed that he isn't as clean as what he has been over the last couple of years.

Should he be thrown to a BP and release Johncock forward maybe?

I think hes been fine, he actually laid a few tackles last weekend which no one else did  As a small FWD you have to expect some games where he wont be in the contest a heap. Dont think you could say he is dis interested, he probably could get thrown around a bit, wing / HBF etc to change it up

I reckon the best course of action is the stick with minimal changes and give the team a chance to respond.

No doubt Sando and co. have been going over the tapes with them this week, and everyone would have points they need to work on.

If it was me I'd be pretty keen to get out there and bounce back by savaging those GWS kids.

On a side note, I'm not a violent man but I wouldn't be sad if Davis just 'happens' to be in someones way this week.

Reilly in this seasons stats: Disposals 4th, Marks 2nd, Tackles 5th, R50 7th, 1% 8th.
Overall not bad.

Get Tippett across half back, try it out and see what happens, allows Tex to be number 1 up forward as i thought he looked disintersted in the second half seeing as every ball went to Tippett for the whole game

No way, Tip is a CHF and showed on Sunday that he is our best target inside/around the 50m mark..... To much gets made of his kicking IMO, he misses the ones he should get and kicks the rest  once he gets that set he will be near on impossible to stop. lets not forget the easy misses that players like Clokes, Dawes, Nick Roo all make.... settle people

Johncock, Ottens & Martin out
Shaw, Tambling & Jaensch in (Symes has been in good form too.)
For every one I miss I am closer to a hole in one.

Johncock looked overweight, slow and had no impact against Hawthorn. Could be a good wake up call if he was dropped. Ottens needs game time and needs to play higher up the ground, his best footy was when he was that rebounding defender who played of half back. Martin could be replaced by anyone - Jaensch, Lyons, Shaw, Wright, Tambling etc. I think Sam Shaw will debut this week, he is killing 'em in the SANFL.

I reckon it would be good if there was no crowd reaction at all when Davi$ gets the ball, just silence. However, when Cornes or Brogan gets it, give 'em heaps.

Tambling hasn't shown much in his time here from what I've seen, so I'd sooner give someone else a go.
I haven't been all that impressed with Jaensch either.

I tend to agree about Ottens being better at HB, though he was good in the back pocket in the past.
Shaw is definitely worth a shot I think.

Johncock has looked disinterested this year. Disappointing, wouldn't want him to end his career by being dropped, he's been such a valuable player and great club servant. Carried the defence last year.

Perhaps a spell as an interchange player rather than a key defender?
