Malcolm Blight has offically lost the plot or he is out partying with Ben Cousins and Charlie Sheen on some very good 'gear'.

I'm referring to the back page of todays paper 'Petrenko the next Cyril'.

The story then goes on about pound for pound matches up very closely against Petrenko Pffft you must be f@#king kidding me

Petrenko is not worthy of carrying Cyril's bag to the game.

Malcolm ask your self this if 100 people had to choose between Cyril and Petrenko how many would take Petrenko? I'm going to stick my neck out and say none.

Agreed... half the people you ask wouldn't even know who Petrenko is....

I note the comments above have come from two supporters of a team he doesn't play for.
I do agree that Blight's comment is a bit premature and we'll have to wait and see.

I only brushed over the article but did he say he would be as good ect? I thought he was saying should Petrenko look to get the footy more, rather than worry about tackling etc he could have an greater impact similar to what Cyril has at the Hawks. They like most indigenous small FWDs (Betts/Garlett etc) have good pace, can twist and turn etc so characteristically why couldn’t he be?

I as a crows supporter am very happy with Petrenko's development and think he has a bright future for the AFC.

Best coach the club has ever had, well, he is undefeated.

Greatest forward line the club has ever had.

Petrenko on the cusp of being as good as Rioli.

What hope has the rest of the competition. :D

Yes, always had a very good culture down there.

From Ronnie Burns, Graham Johncock and the drink driving, Simon Goodwin with the gambling, Nathan Bock beating up his Mrs before he jumped ship, Andy and Tyson doing what their wives told them, Bernie and his shananigans..... :D

Was up there with Robert Walls and a few others, as the worst tv commentator of all time.

Glad he no longer appears on the tv, although unfortunately it appears the print media still seeks him out for comments.

My avatar notwithstanding, what a beat up of a thread.

The actual quote:

"He can actually tackle beautifully - he's a great tackler. But don't always try and run second - what about reading the play? So he's just on the cusp (of reaching Rioli) as it's a subtle change."

The name Rioli is not even actually mentioned by Blight. Parentheses are usually inserted by journalists and I would say the journalist has inserted the words "of reaching Rioli". It's probably in response to a question about what Petrenko has to do to reach the next level and the journalist has used Rioli as an example. The "pound for pound" line is an assertion from the journalist. So what other quote of Blight's equates Petrenko with Rioli?

Of course nobody would take Petrenko over Rioli - the whole article is about what he needs to do to take the next step on the back of some current good form.

Yep it's just the journalists pumping Puppa up saying he could be the next Rioli and not Blight, another case of the Advertiser footy journalists printing Bullsh!t, taking a few comments someone has said and running with them to write some Bullsh!t article.

Puppa is one of the best blokes I've ever met, real nice guy and I was lucky enough to play cricket with him in U/16s at Port and he was a gun cricketer back then. He was bloody quick, nobody wanted to face him in the nets. I recall him bowling pretty much full pace to Piccachu at training one night and bouncing him a few times, was scary to watch.

Obviously footy came before cricket (shoulders injuries didn't do him much good either) and he is where he is now but he should never be compared to Cyril! LMAO. Cyril is something else.
