We usually play well against Essendon, as seen by our "run" against them, which was broken last year.
If we have both Gray and Trengove in I'd be a little more confident, but I doubt both will play.
I think it will be close. Don't want to be pessimistic, but I reckon the Bombers by 3 goals.

Surj went down just before half time and had a fitness test on the ground during the half time break, but played ok in the second half. Could be from this though

He played damn good in the 2nd half. Hence the NFI. Could be general soreness.

Surjan is a confirmed starter according to my sources.
Much looking forward to this contest. As poor as we have been in the last 4 seasons, Essendon is one side that hasnt really troubled us. We have won 6 from our past 7 matches and an astonishing 12 from the past 14 so im prediciting us to put in a real effort tomorrow.
Trengove is a key inclusion but Butcher will be a big loss, hopefully we nullify the contest to a stoppage fuelled match as i feel the dons will smash us if the game is free flowing (definately cant afford our backline to look like a block of jarlsberg cheese!!!)
Im backing us for another upset and for the first time in a while.....2-0 (

)
Go power!

We'll at the 8 minute mark of the last i thought we were going to run away and win a game we didn't deserve to.
The reason i say didn't deserve to is our skill level for 90% of the game was terrible. 7 of Essendons first 10 goals were from direct turnovers or mistakes by Port. Highlighted by Boak and Rodan (both players i rate very highly) but today they were all over the shop with there skill level.
I still question Westhoffs work ethic, for mine just does not work anywhere near hard enough, Still dont think Chaplin can stand a key forward way to loose, Pearce i cant stand and should not be in the side and to finish the negitives O'Shea and Jocobs make some bad mistakes at crutial times but i can stomach this as there young and i think will both be good players for us.
I thought Cornes was good again, Thought Thomas was nearly our best, Dom was workmen like again but i hate seeing our Capt argue with umpires and i know it was only a half but Wingard was impressive and i know Ryder was good but stilll thought Redden was ok and will get better with each run.
In the end dissapointed we lost but not dishearted

Cornes too many times gives loopy handballs & kicks putting unneccassary pressure on the receiver. At least he gets the ball I guess. Cam oshea has looked way out of sorts and must be dropped. Broadbent just doesnt do enough. After five years I still cant work out if I rate westhoff or not.

I think Broadbent was quite good for us on the weekend, it's the players who constantly make stupid decisions that annoy me most, players like Cornes, Thomas, Chaplin, Westhoff
