Well done to Ian Callinan on being promoted to the senior list.
I don't think there would be any players out there who would have had as many knock backs as Ian.
Congratulations and well deserved.

Adelaide Crows rookie Ian Callinan elevated to senior list

ADELAIDE rookie Ian Callinan's promising pre-season campaign has been rewarded with an upgrade to the senior list.

Callinan, who played three AFL matches last year, was today named as the Crows' "nominated" rookie upgrade, ensuring he's a chance of being selected for the round one clash with Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium on March 31.

The 29-year-old has been impressive playing as a specialist small forward during the NAB Cup and should add extra bite to the Crows' attack.

"Ian has been fantastic, especially his last two or three weeks," Adelaide coach Brenton Sanderson told the club's website.

"It's a great story and we should be talking about it more.

"Here's a 29-year-old off the rookie list, who is playing his heart out for the club.

"I know he's going to have an outstanding year for us ... at times were going to need him."

Just goes to show that pace isn't everything... The few games I have seen from him he has been at the right spots for contests, makes space well, plays with alot of footy smarts (Sorry Footy Smart... not sure you relate to that so much... ;) ) delivers with either side of his body and seems to do the 1 percenters well without being a prize-winning greyhound. Good to see him get a chance and I think he can really have an impact on the side

i have a love hate relationship with him, kicks the winning goal at the 57th minute in the last 1/4 of the last minor round game last year against my beloved north, but i love the way he positions himself at the contest. hope he plays atleast the majority of the year with us.very handy player.
