Suprised they might pick up Medhurst when Leon Davis is available. Davis a better player IMO but would cost more $$$$$

i wouldnt mind seeing natalie in an eagles top... or without one.

article said medhurst has come back in good shape from a year off and is keen to play afl again and eagles are lookin at him.

id rather davis also.

medhurst is 30 i think, so would have only couple years left to.

Good point. I would have thought Davis would add a fair bit more to them than a player who will have spent 18 months out of the game by the time the season starts.

Stewy Dew anyone? If the Weagles think that Medhurst might push them from a good team to premiership threat, then why not have a bash on him...

What will he give us?

He is very similar to LeCras. Where will he fit? He is a leading small forward. Potent forward line yes but viable? I don't think so.

Kennedy, Darling, Lynch, LeCras, Hill, Cox, Medhurst all leading forwards.

That's why I said "if."

It'd be safe to assume that the blokes who would be chasing Medhurst would have more of an idea than me as to what role they would see him filling in the team.

If he can be a genuine crumbing forward and all it will cost us is a rookie spot i would be keen for it, but i have my doubts. Time will tell.

Hill is terrible so don't count him. Medhurst will be great IMO for the eagles. Will allow lecras to move into the midfield on a more permanent basis

I agree with Media Park's angle here. You'd have to assume the WCE, if interested, have identified a specific role they need Medhurst to play in 2012 to make the most of what looks to be window of opportunity for the team. It's not as though the guy can't play. Sometimes it's just one or two extra role players that can make the difference. Stewie Dew is a great example of this.

Sometimes you have a specific role to fill and you want that the player can perform that role in that year. So you try to lock it in with a mature ager rather than hope a junior will develop into the role.

Why would you want LeCras in the midfield? I can't recall him ever playing senior football in that role (even for his WAFL club West Perth) and he doesn't have the pace or running capacity. He's a natural forward.

west coast eagles have said they want lecras spending more time in the midfield i do believe, thats not me saying that. thats them.
eventually they want him spending more time in the middle.

id prefer him up forward

Stewy was in the social pages of The Sunday Teletrash again at the weekend.

Certainly enjoying his retirement.

Who ate all the pies?

Tend to agree with Westoz.

Would need to improve his aerobic capacity a lot, would love if he did become a good midfielder because his skills are terrific but i think he will always be a forward.

Didn't watch this season of west coast boys? Lecras had an interrupted preseason, then missed 4 early weeks of footy and still played a fair bit in the midfield. There is no question wce want him in the midfield

Haha no i didn't watch any of my own team CK??

He played a bit in the middle when we need rotations not a "fair bit" as you say. He is predominately a forward. He did very well though for a bloke who played a fair bit in the middle to kick 47 goals and only twice got over 22 possesions.

There is no doubt we think he has the ability to play midfield at times but i can't ever seeing him being a starting midfielder. Happy to be proven wrong.

im well aware of the fact he played in the middle this year... but to say a fair bit in the middle, no way.
the way woosha spoke was like they wanted him as a midfielder who rested up forward.
thats what im implying.....
id like to see a stat of his time spent in the midfield this year, pretty certain it wouldnt of been a fair bit.

hes still a better fwd than mid at this stage tho

edit - he def spent more time in midfield this year... but he isnt a midfielder yet
