Can someone tell me why they cant have double header Friday night footy when they can do it on a Saturday night ?
What about if you played a 6:30 game at an inner city stadium that people will be able to get to after work in either Adelaide ( Possibly), Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane while having a game in Perth at an 8:10 timeslot with their different time zone ? eg Essendon v Richmond at 6:30 followed by West Coast V Carlton in Perth, then there would be more Friday night games to distribute to the other clubs throughout the year.

Good idea Drifter, but agree with johnno, can't see it ever happening.

In the country we get Channel 9 from Sydney, and most Friday nights they broadcast double headers from 7.30 onwards, which work well given the length of Rugby league games, but this still finishes 11.30-12.00.

The length of an Aussie Rules game counts against it, especially as Channel 7 like to make a big presentation of the games they show.

This is true, cant see them broadcasting double headers Friday nights for AFL & NRL.

Besides, given that Friday night games normally dont wind up until what like 10:30 - 11:00, how would you fit in both games in a decent time frame?
They would have to start the 1st one at like 6pm or something, and they would lose crowds and TV viewers because people just would not be ready in time after work etc.

Common sense isn't it? From a time structure point of view, it can't happen. A much better response than "some people work on Saturdays".
