Were Adelaide going to sign Neeld?

If so the Demons have swooped. Has that left the Blackbirds in a tight spot or was someone else a monty for the gig? Deafingly mute on the Blackbirds' board on this matter or so it appears.

Scott Burns is a sure thing, Crows officials as we speak are on a plane to WA to start talking contracts tomorrow.

It's quiet as they probably think Bickley is going to get the job.

I think it is Bickley or Burns, for mine, Bickley is a monty. Not Burns. ;)

Mike Sheehan asked the question to Neeld on if he had to choose between Adelaide and Melbourne. Neeld kind of dodged the question but he did indicate that the Crows were not looking at making a decision until next week. Maybe Neeld didnt want to wait that long.
FWIW I wouldnt be suprised if Burns ended up at the Saints and the Crows were stuck with Bickley

I do hope not. Burns will be named once west coast are bundled out of the finals in my opinion. Bickley's final two games thankfully cost him any chance of getting the gig. Few murmors about brendan mccartney from essendon being a sneaky chance still.

Was interesting that Collingwood are now a man down in the coaching department for the rest of finals with Neeld starting immediately. Cant see Burns doing the same, reckon he will stay until Eagles knocked out yet we keep hearing the Crows will announce their coach this week

just like many things at the moment, Crows are dropping the ball...

Neeld said tonight on radio that Crows were at least another week away from a decision so he took the job that was available now...

Will be interesting if the Bulldogs or St Kilda now try to gazzump the Crows by offering Burns a decent deal before the Crows are ready to sign him.

That would leave Adelaide with a choice of Sanderson, Bickley, Eade, and perhaps a bit of ridicule.

Will be interesting see how the dominoes fall with the remaining coaching jobs over the coming weeks.

I don't buy that.

If he genuinely wanted the job and the pay, the contract term, etc was similar and the only variable was this one week he would wait. One week before this current season is even finished means nothing.

If his criteria was as simple as he would take the first offer he got then yes we missed him. Somehow, I don't think that was his sole criteria and staying in Melbourne was an important factor.

I think Melbourne acted fast once the St Kilda job came open rather than trying to gazzump Adelaide.

Agreed. Neeld has been shopping himself around like a Hanson Rd 'pedestrian' since the senior coaching gigs opened up. He wanted a gig so badly he was always going to take the first one offered to him.

I don't think it's a great loss personally. My gut feeling is Scott Burns is all but a done deal, and will be announced ASAP if WC gets knocked out tonight.

believe it or not that is what he said...

Saw Bickley this morning at the Willunga Farmers Market with the family, looked very relaxed

I don't doubt that's what he said. It's whether he really meant what you are implying he meant. If you say the Crows dropped the ball then you say he was their first priority. I am not convinced he was but I'll reserve any more opinion until we see how the next week or 2 unfold with the Crows job.

It may end up you were right.

I feel that Burns is the guy they really want but I agree with the general idea that the Crows can't spend ages deciding when there are other clubs chasing down the best candidates. It's whether they wanted Neeld over Burns or someone else who wasn't prepared to commit.

It will be interesting if WC win tonight as expected if WC remaining alive in finals is something that is holding back the process of signing Burns. Same as for the Crows, Burns can't afford to sit back and wait too long either or he will miss out.

A rumour on 5AA said that Sanderson flew into Adelaide last Friday.

whufc wrote:Dont bother getting into a debate with them.

Everything the Crows do is perfect and exactly how things should be done, it is ever only bad luck, victorian bias and other outside factors that stop the Cows from winning the premiership year after year.

No wonder the Cows fans are widely regarded as the most unknowledgable in the AFL.

Edit: removed possibly harsh commentary on whufc after calming down

Dutchy and I and other Crows fans have been arguing the toss about these sort of things for years with no hard feelings that I am aware of. Dutch is amazingly defensive of all things Bays on the SANFL board and ditto you with Centrals.

Point me to the last post you made on this site where you criticised the CDFC.

You have turned into one of the worst posters on this site. Stick to your lounge site FFS and do us all a favour.

Oh 5hite i havent checked out the lounge for a few days, might have to go have a look and see who they are all talking about.

whufc I am surprised you are actually prepared to get into a debate on here!

Usually you don't ever respond and just hide away rather than defend your pointless posts. Do you even have your own opinion on anything. How's that AO debate going. Have you decided yet whether you are for or against it?

Well, say no more. Shopping at Willunga Markets is pretty intense, especially on a terrible day like today. If he was looking relaxed there then he must have the job sown up.

Where have i hidden away.

At this stage im still against AO especially considering the millions extra its going to cost and the fact they are still NFI about how there going to fit a car park in.

I think the fact that im willing to be for or against depending on the fact as they come shows alot more than yourself who is for the idea regardless of facts and what changes are made.
