I'm surprised that Simon Black didn't make the squad of 40.

Given the importance of stats these days I'd have thought that a former Brownlow and Norm Smith medallist who's had statistically his best ever season would have staked a pretty good claim for inclusion.

Personally i think Josh Kennedy should be in there. He is IMO the most underrated midfielder in the AFL at the moment. So very consistent.

Others that could have been an outside chance; Jude Bolton, Ted Richards and possibly Sam Reid.

Please. Sam reid had been good but not even close to AA. Jude Bolton started terrific but fell away big time in the middle of the year

Agree. CK.
Best player at Melbourne this year by a street, but not in the best 40 in the comp.

Simon Black is a shadow of what he was...he should now be called Simon Grey. I've never seen such poor disposal by him as I have this season, particularly earlier in the season although he got back up to standard in the latter half of the year. Na, no AA gong for Blacky and rightly so.

BWAHAHA. Someone has been listening to the commentators a little bit too much. Might as well chuck Nathan Vardy in the mix.

The whole idea of a squad is just ridiculous.
It's not like they play a match, so just pick a team.
