Ch 7 takes the cake

How is this for one of the dumbest decisions you will see a TV station make. Channel 7 in Darwin has all year, shown Friday Night Football live. This week for the first time all season, they will delaying the telecast of the Geelong v Hawthorn game Friday night, too broadcast Better Homes and Gardens.

What a prick of a move. Thank **** we don't have to put up with that shit next year.

The want their cake and they want to eat it. They claim they get the same ratings from 7.30 to 10.30 on B&H garden first and then the delayed AFL game as they would if they showed the AFL game live in that time slot. However, apparently the ratings show that most people keep watching the AFL until 11.30 so CH7 get the high figures for 4 hours instead of 3.

I get that they are a business and need to make money but if you get rights for sports then show them live!

The real reason of course is by showing the AFL game on delay Seven can insert more ads into the ad breaks than they could live thus making more money.

Channel 9 claimed that too in 2004 in regards to doing it with Burke's Backyard and then they axed Burke's Backyard at the end of that year because they said it "didn't have the ratings"!!!!

And last weekend saw the last AFL blackout game ever thankgod.

Again we had to put up with Crows on Fox and Ten Sat night and couldnt see Carlton/Saints.

Hooray for next year and us finally able to watch any live game we want, wouldnt think its 2011

Its not, we live in Adelaide. We're not even in the 1990s yet.
