On the Couch last night

Did anyone catch Gerard Healy last night defending the free to Luke Ball against Josh Gibson for "Frontal contact"? Both 'Iron' Mike and Brad Johnson agreed it was clearly not a free.
I usually respect his views but recently I think he has been off the mark and this got me really bugged! He argued that "That has been a free for 100 years". Maybe if you take your eyes off the ball....
So I guess that Worsfold hit on Modra years ago should have ben a free too?
For those that missed it, Gibson came running back into the pack to spoil and jumped into Hodge and Ball, never taking his eye off the ball.
As a kid I was told to watch the ball and spoil as a defender. Apparently you cant do either now! Healy is slowly becoming another Andrew yes man it seems. The most sickening part is I was agreeing with Mike 'no idea' Sheahan!

If Gibson had his eyes on Ball then it should have been a free

didn't hear Healey defending him but, should not have been a free kick in a million games! that is what our game is about. one of the most selfless acts a player can do for his team. never to his eye of the ball (red sherrin) and actually was the first to make contact with it.
would love to hear what the gesch has to say about the call.

I can tell you know, the Giesch will say the umpire was correct. No need to wake him from his slumber just to hear that.

I watched it through but hated having to agree with that Victorian ponce Sheahan. God he irritates me. And as for the "Roo" I didn't think he did too bad actually. Did you notice how many relevant comments he made that came from his own knowledge bank rather than off the pre-written run-sheets they get supplied with.

Poor old Roo has the face for radio and voice for TV (muted) however id rather have him talk anyday over 90% of other 'Football' journalists. He talks sense and like you said SP talks from his knowledge not what he guesses or sources say.

Didn't hear one stutter from Roo on the replay this arvo so maybe they edited them out! His comments were good and you dont get to be an All-Australian for being a dill so I give him a thumbs up as a panleist
