Will SA claim a AFL flag again in our lifetime?

With SA footy at an ALL TIME LOW at AFL level, do Crows or Power supporters think they will see their team win a flag again in their lifetime?

Considering that their are 18 teams now so that even allowing for all things being equal, thats only 1 flag per club every 18 years on average.
With the Power & Crows so far down the pecking order atm how and how long will it take to get back to the top again?
The SA teams aint going to get any help from the AFL as they're hell bent on seeing Gold Coast & GWS succeed and now that VICTORIAN clubs are back dominating the comp again, the AFL couldn't be happier.

Of course we will, as soon as the Crows get rid of Craig, the Power will do OK under Primus, but it will come in the next reign of the newer coaches, so we will have to wait another 8 to 13 years before either of our two sides will win the cup.

Bloody hell, I hope so.Well, Port winning one anyway. :D

Long, long way away from either side getting one.

Of course the Crows will win a flag soon REASONS

-they are the most exciting squad in the crows history
- they were unlucky against port as they were over run by a strong and powerful outfit.
- as NFC would say, Petrenko is a gem, Sloane is a gun, Henderson is a beauty, McKernan is a cracker etc etc etc etc.
- the 19th man

In our lifetime's perhaps, but not among the current crop of players from either side...

Same, it appeared to me at the time that Craig was given the job because the playing group called for it to be so after the hatchet job had been done on Ayres because he was to hard on the playing group and as McLoud says openly in the book showed him no respect for all the medals he had won and so on. As a result the club set a precedent very similar to what has been years of history at the SAFC of coaches like Reid and Sheldon being sacked after "losing the support of the players". Importing that soft culture into the club will doom it to failure until someone has the courage and the support of the board to do what Blight did and put a broom through the place and make the hard decisions.

I also think that the Crows are paying dearly now for not having been active in trading weeks over the past few years, again because of this reluctance to make changes to the playing group. The blunt facts are that clubs have to trade very good players in order to receive very good players in return. The Crows have good juniors, just like the other 17 clubs, more is required at the AFC than just a good group of kids that may or may not be coming through the system.

If Craig does go then I feel that Trigg should also go likewise and for the same reasons.

I think its fair to say that the new coach should be someone totally from outside of the club. Goodwin in an Assistant role would be a good way to go having spent time under Thompson and Hird. Ken Hinkley former Geelong Assistant Coach and now Assistant Coach at the Gold Coast would be my suggestion for the role assuming that Roos-Malthouse-Matthews turned it down.

The answer is yes, but it will take sometime to clear out the culture that is left over from Williams at the Power and well for the crows they need some work, but they do have the potential there, just need to work out how to reprogram there robots.

Still which one will win another one first, it will be the crows, they are finanically better and more stable, Port are fully rebuilding where the crows have the KPP they just seem to find away for them not to reach there potential.

I don't follow either side but I firmly believe that The crows will win a flag within 5 years, AS LONG AS THEY CAN KEEP TIPPETT, HENDERSON & WALKER.

I think Adelaide has a talented group of players that are all developing together. They will go up and down as they are at the moment, but the important thing is that they are going through those ups and downs together as a squad, and maturing together as a result. I think they have all the ingredients to be challengers very soon.

The Adelaide supporters are a fickle bunch, and really have no 'footy' perspective IMO. They lap up the media hype, and have an inflated expectation after the seemingly 'easy' manner in which they snagged back to back flags. Any one who doesn't follow Adelaide loves to hate them for the exact same reasons - they are overhyped and their supporters have a very loose grip on reality.

The reality is Adelaide as a team is somewhere in the middle of these two extremes. Talented but no where near what the media & average supporter hypes them up to be, but also now where near as bad as the haters hope they are.

They had a tough loss today against a fired up Melbourne outfit who were under intense scrutiny this week. It was tough to watch, but I will be one fan not having a sooky tonight because I firmly believe that success is close. You can all have a laugh at that if you like, but the joy of footy is there's alway next week, and I'll be there on the sidelines believing my team can win. :D

Gingernuts that is a totally inappropriate post. There is far too much reasoned and sensible analysis in you post. This thread is a reactive one springing from the latest loss.

Remember folks that Adelaide losing to Melbourne at the G is nothing new. Better Adelaide teams have lost to worse Melbourne teams over the journey and the Crowies don't have too many troops on deck at the moment.

Unless you have a walking frame and you fondly remember the Everly Brothers or the radio serials of days of yore then the answer to the question of this thread is yes. But like Saints, Bullies and South fans you'll have to learn to be patient.

One thing that will make the wait go faster is to stop reading the Advertiser.

REB
